Very good speed, good pass catcher but questionable vision and pass protection. I think we overpaid to (4yrs $31mil)

Yeah, Lewis was the better deal. 31 million for 3.8 ypc with marginal pass pro skills.

I think Lewis had better value as well, but the problem with him is whether or not he can make it through a full season. McKinnon's contract seems to be a bit steep, though without knowing the guaranteed portion it's really tough to say.

McKinnon is 3 yrs younger (which is huge for a RB) and hasn't had any real serious injuries like Lewis. People complain about not signing anyone THEN realize that in order to sign someone in FA they will most likely have to over paid lol....it's a no win situation in here apparently.

And you actually wrong on the pass-protection skills he's a good pass protector AND he's gonna be used much more than a RB in this system. dude can run for 600 and catch 600 yards in this system very easily.
over paid for him , yes he can catch but had less catches than Carlos last year .

too bad what a waste of cap space I think its a panic signing .

Dude. You literally said "you don't give someone 30 million to split carries."

I said you dont give someone 30M to give him 150 carries which is what he did in Minnesota. Not that he would be getting 250 carries in SF.

No sense arguing. He'll be a piece—a good one.

Bellcow he is not. But that isn't what Shanny is looking for.

I'm not against the Jet signing, but there's not a single thing in that play that points to any special talent or ability on his part.

I mean, he didn't drop a wide open pass without any defenders within 10 yards of him, sure, but you didn't need McKinnon to find someone who can do that.

welp you sure as s**t didn't see Carlos Hyde making that play lol. Show me Bredia making that play? There's a reason it's scheme beating scheme...they have the personnel to run a play like that now. Didn't before.

I don't like the overall amount but like the signing. Just didn't expect Shanahan to go after a Rb in Free agency with one of the deepest RB classes ever. I'm expecting this contract to be about 6,7,8,9M per year with incentives for Probowl, With little dead money after 2 years. We gotta wait for the details to come out

Hyde: 59 catches on 88 targets, 5.9 yds per catch
Jet: 51 catches on 68 targets, 8.3 yard per catch

He had 20 more targets but only 8 more catches.

Howie Roseman ain't got nothing on Paraag.
Happy to have him but if those number are close to real this is a horrible signing. He will be the 4th highest paid RB in the league. I really hope those numbers are off because this is insane. Someone needs to explain the definition of prudent to Lynch.

From everything I've read he isn't a feature back. Someone please tell me I'm wrong.

That's a valid point on Lewis. But at 30 million, I'm imagining McKinnon is gonna be a feature back or at least first shot at it. At 3.8 ypc last year don't see it.

That's entirely about scheme and usage, and really doesn't have anything to do with ability.

The story of Carlos Hyde last year is that he's a RB who is not very good as a receiver out of the backfield who played in an offense which throws a lot to RBs out of the backfield; he's a good inside zone and power runner who struggles with outside, who was in an offense that wanted to run outside zone but due to the limitations of Hyde and the offensive line was forced to run a lot of inside zone.

Like Juice, I think it's insane to predict that Jet will be worth the money, but re: what the 9ers want their RBs to be able to do, he's absolutely better than Hyde in every way (even though I think Hyde is maybe a more talented back).
