He has really good hands and he has big time speed but everything I have read on him is that he has really poor vision. This scares me. He was a pretty good player in Minnesota but could never take the leap to becoming a real good player and a difference maker. Hopefully that changes in SF

I blame most of his lack of production on Minnesota pushing touches to Peterson and Norv Turner. Like Boise said, CRIMINALLY underused. His athleticism and strength are off the charts, check his combine numbers. The rank is for overall that year, not RB class... Link

Event Stat Rank
Broad Jump 11'0" T-2nd
Vertical Jump 40'5" 3rd
Bench Press 32 reps T-8th
40-yard dash 4.41 6th

Those are Saquon Barkley numbers, though he's shorter and lighter...

Ehh, this is a Tier 2 overpay for Lynch so far, right in there with the Malcolm Smith contract.

Tier 1, for Lynch, for 9ers history, and for NFL history, is the Juice contract. This is nothing compared to the overpay for Juice.

RE perfect fit

Joe Williams was handpicked by KS to fit his scheme. How'd that go?

Who knows he hasn't played in a regular season game yet.

Lol. David is not smart his homework for football games and players talent.

Lol.. McKinnon got 500+YD for rush? Lol.. He is worth for 7.5 millions. Oh damn.

He fits Kyle's so its a good deal. I still want a bigger back on the team who can take a beating. Breida was good for the flash plays, but couldn't take a hit and keep going.

And it was money well spent.

It is a big overpay. I mean, we'll see what the details of the contract look like -- escalators, guaranteed money, etc -- but I still think he'll get more than he deserves. I understand that you have to overpay in FA, but McKinnon doesn't seem very accomplished, so I'm not sure how he got this much.

I'm not a huge fan of the signing. Reminds me of the Malcolm Smith signing from last year.

It wouldn't surprise me if McKinnon thrives in this scheme, but I think a lot of players would thrive in this scheme.
The team desperately needed a pass-catching RB. I'm good with it. Shanny sure does love his SPARQ guys.

We'll find out soon.

Holy crap, this is a big overpay. I live in Vikings territory. I've watched this guy a couple dozen times. He has great straight line speed, can catch well ... and that's it. He does not have good vision which leads to many runs where he runs right into defenders because he has no creativity.

I am not saying he will be bad. He's the definition of mediocre. The issue is paying big money for mediocre when better RBs just signed for less and the draft is crazy deep.

This is the first time Lynch just flat out messed up in my opinion. I have faith but no matter how you cut it, this is a big overpay. Even if he ends up doing well, the fact remains his market value was much less.

Very, very odd.

How about we wait for the actual contract to come out? It's a crazy cycle in here, b***h because we don't sign anyone, we sign someone and b***h about overpaying (even though that's how it works in FA), we see actual numbers and it's not as bad.

as far as McKinnon....dude was avg around 80 yards from scrimmage when he actually got some playing time this yr, I don't think there's anyone in here that wouldn't want that over a 16 week season. Better scheme fit, better QB, better OC/HC.

And he's nowhere even close to a top five RB. Should have just gone with a rookie in the draft or tried to move up for Saquon.
Another way to look at it, we took away a RB from a possible playoff opponent

That is mind boggling, it is what it is. He definitely isn't the 4th best RB. He is the third best RB in the NFC West.
