He wasn't all that great in Minnesota, we paid him a ton of money, he wasn't very good in his limited pre season snaps, and he got hurt.

Don't get me wrong, I trust coach Shanny and think McKinnon will be a good fit here. I just don't find the skepticism to be that strange.

His preseason performance didn't alleviate my concerns about the following:
He has a grand total of two 100 yard rushing games in his career and none since 2014.
He has never had 1000 yards from scrimmage in a season.

You mean, he didn't rush for 100 yards in the first pre season game and then 900 more in the next...to alleviate your concerns?

Haha.

Perhaps if he had averaged more than zero yards rather than -1.4 I would be slightly encouraged.
I am hoping he is an upgrade from Hyde and it would be great if he could live up to his contract and perform like Freeman.

I know, I was just playing. It's understandable...it's a big unknown. The irony is that we ran a ton of IZ with Alfred with a lot of success which is the same system we exited Hyde and Brown for. Hopefully we can find a balance between IZ (Alfred) and OZ (McKinnon)...ideally, they'd both be as equally effective inside and outside so defenses couldn't key in on whoever we have out there.

Already taking a back seat to Morris.

No doubt Morris will lead the team in rushing this season.

I have no doubt everyone will be around shortly to tell me there is no such thing as a lead back in Shannys offense, and it doesn't matter what we pay him, as long at the "groups" production is high.

He is a third down back. Period.

I don't see how people can keep trotting out that "Shanahan doesn't use a lead back" narrative after watching the Falcons the two years he was there.

GO back to the day he was signed, and follow their narrative. If shifts any time they need it too to fit their view.

Fact of the matter is, we gave this guy top RB money, and he has not done anything in his career to warrant that type of deal. In fact, he has actually lost carries to every back he has competed with.

Funny thing is, some of us argued we should have just passed on "Jet" and signed Morris instead....

Here we are.

How are you drawing all these conclusions based on 2 preseason games? One in which McKinnon carried the ball 3 times? And Morris will lead the team because he got 84 yards against the world beating Colts preseason defense. Serious question
Amazing. Guy hasn't played a down yet on the Niners. A bum already. That was fast. lol

This is what makes me question his ability to be Freeman II. Hope he can!

Morris doesn't present the matchup that Kyle wants in the passing game. Of course Jet has to show that he is a competent runner, and if he can do that, then he allows Kyle to do things in the passing game that he can't do with Morris such as split out wide, beat a LB's coverage, and be a big gain threat on screens.

Did you see what Morris was able to still do last season in Dallas? What about his career?

How About Jets career? He done much besides lose carries to every back brought in to replace him? He has had opportunities, yet has never done much as a RB. You dont pay a RB top 5 money to be a third down back in pass protection and receiving out of the back field.

The fact that people want to compare this guy to the man in ATL is pretty much a joke.

Arrow is up for Morris, and down for Jet. Anyone arguing against that has blinders on.

I am comparing him to Freeman because I think that is the role that Shanahan sees him filling. How is that a joke?
