Already taking a back seat to Morris.

No doubt Morris will lead the team in rushing this season.

I have no doubt everyone will be around shortly to tell me there is no such thing as a lead back in Shannys offense, and it doesn't matter what we pay him, as long at the "groups" production is high.

He is a third down back. Period.

Funny thing is, some of us argued we should have just passed on "Jet" and signed Morris instead....

Here we are.

How are you drawing all these conclusions based on 2 preseason games? One in which McKinnon carried the ball 3 times? And Morris will lead the team because he got 84 yards against the world beating Colts preseason defense. Serious question

Did you see what Morris was able to still do last season in Dallas? What about his career?

How About Jets career? He done much besides lose carries to every back brought in to replace him? He has had opportunities, yet has never done much as a RB. You dont pay a RB top 5 money to be a third down back in pass protection and receiving out of the back field.

The fact that people want to compare this guy to the man in ATL is pretty much a joke.

Arrow is up for Morris, and down for Jet. Anyone arguing against that has blinders on.

I am comparing him to Freeman because I think that is the role that Shanahan sees him filling. How is that a joke?

My comment wasn't directed at you necessarily. Its a Joke that people from the very beginning were projecting him to be the next Freeman for shanny, and here we are about to start the season, and the same guys are now saying "Shanny doesn't have a feature back, as long as the group produces, thats all that matters". and also "as long as he produces receiving the football, i dont care about his rushing stats". These were the same arguments those of us against the signing used and were called haters for it lol. Now they are being spun the other way. Thats the joke.

Like i said, i love me some Shanny, but im worried he doesnt have the knack his dad did for finding a RB. Joe Williams did not work out clearly. If Jet doesnt work out, then i dont know what else to say. Regardless, i think we will be in the market for a RB early in the draft next off season. Should have taken one this year in the deep draft class.
Few things I've noticed from watching his highlights:

1) Goes down rather easily
2) Doesn't appear to have the vision once he gets to the second level. In actuality, he often finds himself running into like the only defender in the open field. I saw this countless times.
3) Doesn't have a second gear to break the big one
4) He looks explosive getting the ball but then quickly runs into the first defender in sight
5) No shiftiness whatsoever

Keep in mind, this is from watching his highlights

He sort of reminds me Christine Michael, the Seahawks Rb from few years ago.

I'm not expecting much out of him this season. Hopefully, Morris can be the leading back so we don't have to rely on this dude.

Nah

Yea

How about we watch him play some meaningful snaps before jumping the gun on him?

This is what makes me question his ability to be Freeman II. Hope he can!

I mean can you name me a quality starter on that colts DL or even then front 7? I'm happy we got Morris and he looked good. Let's not pretend like McKinnon had the same lanes to run thru with his 3 carries lol.

Did you not look at the career stats he just posted? This conversation has nothing to do with preseason stats...

I mean did you see what Goodwin did his whole career before coming to SF? Can you name me anyone of quality on that colts front 7?

I mean you got football teams spending top 10 picks on "3rd down" backs like christian mccaffrey.

I'm gonna wait and see how he's utilized and how offense as a whole go with him in the game before complaining about anything

Great Morris was awesome with shanny and a good OL and in Dallas with a good OL. I like Morris I'm glad his on the team.

McKinnon with a dogs**t OL in Minn didn't do so hot...I mean I guess we could say the same about McCaf and Fournette last yr.

Let's see how it goes. If Mckinnon let's kyle unleash his playbook and he ends the yr with 1,500 total yards I'm happy.

Guess I have blinders on then because I'm not ready to call McKinnon a waste of money yet. Big difference in your above points is that Morris had a couple seasons in Shannys offense as the lead back, McKinnon hasn't even played a game yet.

It's a bit premature imo. I don't think he's gonna be some monster but I'll take 1,500 total yards. I bet people weren't to hot on Goodwin when he first got here either.
People are so eager to bash a player before he ever steps foot on the field, it amazes me

Minnesota has had a pretty good running game since Mckinnon has been there.

The comparison to the Goodwin signing is a poor one at best.

Goodwin was signed to a prove it deal. I was also very high on the signing because the numbers he did put up were as a dual athlete, and while not being able to even take the regular supplements NFL athletes take. He was putting himself into a severe handicap by being a dual athlete, and the cupboard was severely bare at WR. He was also a second signing to Garcon, who many envisioned being the feature WR last season.

We see what happened when he was able to fully commit to football.

Jet on the other hand was signed to top 5 RB money after failing miserably to snag the lead role for the team that drafted him. We then passed on drafting another RB in an extremely deep draft class, and went with Breida and Williams, which seems to have been a mistake now in hindsight, and thus had to sign a veteran RB that we are severely lucky to have even had available on the market this late into the off season.

NY likes to blame Minn line for all Jets shortcomings. I have been arguing they are not as bad as he makes them seem since the day we signed Jet it seems.

Regardless, every other back in the system there has outperformed Jet.

What is the point of bringing up the Colts in response to a post comparing career numbers?

I'd be happy with that too and I am pretty sure that is what Kyle is expecting from him.
