Great write up 49erphan. I agree with a lot of what you wrote.

I'm hoping that he can be the type of player to help move the chains. He doesn't need to be the next Freeman. And judging by his highlights he won't be, but's that's fine. If he can get 1,500 all purpose yards, or anywhere near that, I'll be a happy man.

1500 total yards is Devonta Freeman.

I expect more receiving yards than Freeman and less rushing yards

Who gives a s**t about what happened in Minn? last I saw he plays for SF and that's all I care about. people are acting like that $30 million is all guaranteed money and it's not even close to that ($11.7 total guaranteed). There are 4 RBs on their rookie deals making more guaranteed money then him currently.

I remember people wanting Christian McCaffrey last yr, that's who McKinnon is. explosive RB who can score anytime he touches the ball. Is he gonna pound it up the middle all day? Nope probably not. We had that last yr with Hyde and i'll I heard was b***hing lol.

He's a one cut OZ runner. He's a top end route runner with solid hands. He's a top end pass protector. He allows kyle to get creative with play-calling. He limits what the defense can do because it's not an obvious run or pass play when he's on the field...advantage kyle.

Get the whole he needs to rush for 1,500 yards to be successful. It's the NFL in 2018, which all about the pass. give me 1,500 ALL-PURPOSE yards and that's money well spent.

Agreed NY, plus my 0.02 on his importance to the offence over someone like Morris or Hyde.

With Morris or Hyde if we are in 21 personnel (RB, Juice, TE, 2 WR's) you can assume run, knowing that if it's PA, your LB's can deal with the RB's without them hurting them too much in the passing game.

With Mckinnon he will run away from you, that leaves you to pick your poison, put an extra DB in and we'll run down his throat, put an LB in and we'll burn you in with the pass.

This is the reason these big Safeties or super fast LB's are so coveted, but there aren't enough to go around. Mckinnon is a matchup nightmare.
I don't think a lot think Jet will suck...just that we overpaid. Between our FB and RB, we overpaid for both.

this is true.. same can be said for malcom smith. now maybe we had to cuz no one wanted to play here. i am like joe. i like jet. it disturbs me he is hurt but for the money we paid. i expect big things from him and smith, at least juice started paying dividends last year when jimmy arrived
Can't wait until the season starts so we can see what we have in McKinnon. I'd like to believe that Kyle see's something in this guy that's not so obvious to the average fan sitting on the couch somewhere who thinks he knows more than NFL coaches. This will be a litmus test to see how Kyle evaluates talent and if he's worth that six year contract. He's already pounded the table for Joe Williams who's talent was undeniable but who may not have the make up and work ethic to do what it takes to make it in the NFL. Waiting patiently..

Just thinking about that..If Jets asked the more moneys then he must show me his talent for rush yards and over 1500 yards. He is getting paid lot moneys!!

That is a jump in production of more than 50% from his career high. I think most people would be ecstatic with that, I know I would. I am guessing that is what Kyle expects from him as well.
Highest paid 3rd down back ever. But you know what, money aside we should keep him at a pitch count (15-18 touches a game) and him and Alfred could be a solid 1-2 punch who compliment each other really well

Dude had around 1K all-purpose yards last yr, I can see him getting 250 more rushing and 250 more passing yards in Kyle's scheme. Hyde got all those targets last yr and didn't do s**t with them.

I'll take anything close to those numbers as long as the offense puts pts on the board...that's the whole objective, right?

We aren't paying for the player, we're paying for the specific skill sets that Kyle needs to run his offense properly, it will pay dividends.

As an aside this is the type of thing Baalke would never do.

Do you honestly think he's only gonna be in on only 3rd downs?

we over paid no matter what you said. all you can do is hope he lives up to it
In the end, his production will be the final word on if he was worth the $$$.
He will help make this offense a nightmare and a half to try to stop. Will go from rb to wideout to slot in one play. Haha. You can't control 3-4 rockets going out on each play all over the place. Kittle down the seam all day.Hahaha
I reached like 2 rounds for the guy so you best your *** he's getting 1500 yards

Biggest homer pick of my life but lets goooooo
