You will be able to find guys like this in the draft for far less money, especially in a year where the draft is absolutely stacked with RBs.

Out of all the moves ShanaLynch have made, this one makes the least amount of sense to me. That much money for a guy who realistically is a #2 RB?

IMO this is more about the passing game and creating miss matches vs just a RB.
I'm not sure why people were in love with Hyde. Run as fast as you can head first into the line and see what happens. Plus he was the WORST receiving back in the league.

Lol at the guys who thought he would be back.

Shanahan obviously didn't see a RB who offers in the pass game like Jerick does available in the draft.

This argument has always been preposterous (nothing screams apologist like, "Who cares? it's not my money!"), but it's even worse when you're trotting this argument out there in a league with a salary cap. You do realize that teams have a finite amount of money to spend, right?

The 49ers have a lot of cap space, but they also don't have an unlimited amount of cap space. A great way to utilize unspent cap space is by front-loading extensions, not for overpaying mediocre players. Also, cap space can be rolled over into the ensuing year.
Unless there's significant fluff in this contact this signing makes absolutely zero sense. Why in the world would we overpay a rotational runningback too 4 money when it's the deepest position in the draft

Yeah probably paid a similar RB a ton of money as an insurance policy for Joe

McKinnon is Joe Williams now? How often have you seen Williams catch a damn ball....IMO McKinnon is gonna take on a Kamara type role with this team. They should draft a bigger back in the mid rds.

Williams and Breida can go kick rocks

Nfl.com comparison for Joe Williams is Mackinnon but I'm wrong to call them similar?

Than in same post you compare Mackinnon to Kamara?

That's some Kool-aid

570 yards? That's all?

And people were b*tching about Carlos Hyde's yards/carry? This dude's is even lower. Plus, he is tiny.

Go look at how the Saints you Kamara....IMO that's how he will be used. 120ish carries and 80+ targets.

We need a big Mark Ingram like RB which we can now get in the mid rds.

Love this signing the more I think about it

We definitely now need some kind of short yardage back.

Give me this guy in the 4th rd and watch this running game roll

I don't like reading that especially at this price. Pass catching ability don't outweigh those things to me.

RE perfect fit

Joe Williams was handpicked by KS to fit his scheme. How'd that go?

We don't know. He was on IR with a bum ankle all year.

I like the signing but I'll wait for contract details. The initial numbers seem more like a reach than being aggressively prudent.

I don't like the overall amount but like the signing. Just didn't expect Shanahan to go after a Rb in Free agency with one of the deepest RB classes ever. I'm expecting this contract to be about 6,7,8,9M per year with incentives for Probowl, With little dead money after 2 years. We gotta wait for the details to come out

I bet we still draft a RB. Can't count on Williams for anything and Breida is a poor man's McK. We need a stud power back Chubb or Guice.

Oh yeah absolutely even if it's not a huge need anymore. He's a good fit with us and will put up lots of scrimmage yards just expected us to go draft route on in the early mid rounds. Waiting for the details to kick in. Maybe it's alot of incentives (Hopeful)
Who the hell is gonna be our starter? We have a bunch of RB2 on our team
How can you not like a back named "JET". I hope he lives up to the great legacy of Joe, The Jet, Perry.
