One medical site stated that recovery from an ACL tear is 7-9 months. If that's the case, that would put right about there. There are all kinds of variables, however. Will he have the speed that makes him so dangerous? How much size will he lose? Hopefully, he'll be up to the challenge.

This isn't 1998. He'll be fine.

Fragile Kinny

1-19 here we come.......
This may not turn out as bad as it appears. Many of us had concerns about whether McKinnon and Breida would be able to provide the punch for an effective running game. Looked real good for the passing game, but could we run the ball in short yardage situations, the red zone, control the clock when we needed to? We all saw what happened in the first half of the Colt's game when Morris and the starting OL simply dominated the 1's of the Colts. If we can get a running game anywhere close to that during the regular season, this will be a team that poses a true threat on the ground. That would mean the offense would be more balanced, taking pressure of Jimmy G. and making play action even more effective. Think Kittle, Goodwin and Gracon with Juice and Morris in the backfield. That's four bonified receiving threats that stretch the field horizontally and vertically, while the fullback, tailback, tight end configuration makes it essential to also play the run. What do you do? Hard to go nickel. So probably put base personnel on the field and even have to move the SS into the box at times if they can do what they did against the Colts. That leaves a bunch of possible mismatches in the passing game.

So let's hold on and wait and see what happens. We all thought this would be a pass happy offense, but it could turn out to be much more balanced and even more effective.

A decision will need to be made come draft time.

I agree that we should wait and see. Morris had a good game against the Colts and the run blocking improved a lot. But that could be because the Colts d-line is bad, so remains to be seen if they can execute consistently against better talent

I agree. RB is easy, but the concern is will Shanny's playbook be limited with Breida and Morris vs Jet

The problem with Morris is that he lacks the receiving ability of a McKinnon. He can run well but he's much easier for defenses to handle in terms of matchups. He's not a guy who can threaten your defense 25 yards down the field; I doubt that they can find someone who fills that role at this point so might as well get another solid RB who can eat carries and push Breida more into that RB/receiver role.

Yes the leading rushers were highly coveted rookies. Everyone could easily see they were special and would come In and be effective.

If everyone could see that then they wouldn't have lasted until the 3rd round.

Henderson on the other hand was a 6th rounder . Not much was expected of him. He actually played last year and got 13 yards on 7 carries lol.

Breida went undrafted and he did fine when pressed into a bigger role. Rather than a short term stopgap I'd like to see someone who could potentially fill a role with this team long term. There's several intriguing young RB's out there that could be productive in the #3 RB role for this team.

By younger RBs I meant inexperienced. Which is pretty much every rb that played for us in pre season this year. Williams, Mcnichols, Wilson was decent. They all had poor vision compared to Morris who came in off the street and looked like a pro.

I think mostly you mean less talented. McNichols was cut by the team that drafted him as a rookie, Williams was a product of his OL in college and Wilson was a decent smaller school running back with a propensity for fumbles. Compared to guys like that, of course Morris should have come in and tore it up.

Wasn't hating on Breida. Which is why I said it was unlikely Henderson would come in and out play Breida Morris or Mostert.

I don't think its that unlikely. We'll just have to agree to disagree but I think Henderson would be a very good fit for this scheme. I certainly like him better than Williams or McNichols.

I wasn't saying that all Vets are better than young rookies lol. I was saying I want a proven vet over rolling the dice on an unproven youngster and hoping they are the answer.

Morris is about as good as it gets for proven vets right now. Teams aren't going to be looking to trade away starting RB's or key backups this close to the season. If you're going to swing on a veteran that was once good or was simply never good, why not just roll the dice with a younger player if Morris and Breida will be taking most of the carries anyways?

What is this "classy fan" you speak of??

@vikefans was one .

McKinnon is trending and there were others
Donnel Pumphrey is a guy who can be a dual threat in terms of rushing and receiving, but he's been injured the entirety of his pro-career. Basically Philly's Joe Williams.
We need a Kareem Hunt to emerge on our team.
