Ouch! I used a 3rd rounder, but luckily it's just a league with mates for a laugh. Brieda was Autopicked at the end of the draft so have had to punt on Morris.

Oh for F sake! The GD season hasn't even started and we're already losing guys. The 49ers invested a lot of money in a little RB who didn't even average 4 yards per carry. Glad we have Alfred Morris.

Is this going to become an annual thing, losing a big-money FA for the season due to injury....

we already have a frank type runner in morris. i chuckle at people who pooh pooh this as meh,. no big deal. uhm sorry. after what we signed him for . after what we were all told by everyone from lynch to kyle to even our moron dc, that he was going to do. and now we have the usual misfit of running backs back there trying to piece together a decent run game. despite what some think. jimmy can not do it all esp if they do not respect our run game and if you have a couple guys with over 1000 passing yards but a run game that generates about 50 yards a game or less. you have some nice quik stats and fantasy numbers with your qb and wide outs but . in my opinion. you are looking at 6 or 7 wins

no, he is making the media rounds talking about the scrub tackle we got from the browns

I wouldn't call him a scrub...they got some work to do I thought the jeremiah attaochu cut was a head scratcher.

It is a big deal without question...his skill set isn't something we have on the team. Really was looking forward to kyle scheming up stuff with him

This may not turn out as bad as it appears. Many of us had concerns about whether McKinnon and Breida would be able to provide the punch for an effective running game. Looked real good for the passing game, but could we run the ball in short yardage situations, the red zone, control the clock when we needed to? We all saw what happened in the first half of the Colt's game when Morris and the starting OL simply dominated the 1's of the Colts. If we can get a running game anywhere close to that during the regular season, this will be a team that poses a true threat on the ground. That would mean the offense would be more balanced, taking pressure of Jimmy G. and making play action even more effective. Think Kittle, Goodwin and Gracon with Juice and Morris in the backfield. That's four bonified receiving threats that stretch the field horizontally and vertically, while the fullback, tailback, tight end configuration makes it essential to also play the run. What do you do? Hard to go nickel. So probably put base personnel on the field and even have to move the SS into the box at times if they can do what they did against the Colts. That leaves a bunch of possible mismatches in the passing game.

So let's hold on and wait and see what happens. We all thought this would be a pass happy offense, but it could turn out to be much more balanced and even more effective.

Good post. This essentially just puts us back to last year with Morris as the traditional back, Breida as the all purpose. Shanny was trying to go Freeman/ Coleman and an attack that benefits the passing game but that's not to say we're doomed without McKinnon.

We were never going to have a bell cow anyways. McKinnon/ Breida was the plan. Now it's Morris/ Breida.

you just removed supposedly alot of options off the table with his loss. but then we never saw anything that he could do for us in a uniform. this points out just how razor thin we are for depth. the last few years we have spent all of our time running around picking up running backs off of the used car lot and looks like we may have to do that again. unless lynch and kyle believe these two guys will stay healthy all year long

we could talk about pass rusher but that is a whole other negative issue for a different thread.

This. With him injured the majority of preseason, I was waiting to see what Kyle had in store for him. And just like that...it's over.

Last year Hyde and Breida had all but 6 carries for us. I'm pretty sure you're referring to a few years back.

No doubt losing McKinnon hurts and it could put us down the path of being stretched out like the year elder Shanny had to use 8 of them. That's the NFL for you. If this were qb I'd be freaking out but rb is a position that's better suited for the chaos the league can bring.
