You mean you are just not happy he was injured...neither am I.

Outback Fumbler.
I woke up this morning thinking I can't believe we made it to final cuts without any serious injuries.

Were pretty much screwed here. Imagine last year but instead of Hyde we have Morris off of the street. They were worried enough about RB to sign Morris before we lost Jet.

Yup screwed.

1) He knows Shanahan's system, which apparently is a big issue in bringing in a player on short notice
2) The coaching staff thought he was going to compete well this year and was just derailed by a couple of smaller injuries that should heal soon
3) It wasn't like McKinnon looked any better running the ball than Joe Williams in the early pre-season games, so it might have been the line that was the issue and Joe might actually be decent if given the chance with the starting OL.
4) We've already spent all this time keeping him on the team, so what do we have to lose?

only if his ribs weren't cracked

Obviously without any waiver claims they're trying to swing a deal. If that doesn't work why not

Still a lot of water to cross the dam before the Vikings game. Being patient is not a characteristic of fans doe.

Look at McKinnon stats for rush yards. He didnt won starting job from Viking. Mckinnon is #rb 2 or rb3 for 3 years or 4 years?!

He's fast and catches passes. These are skills that Kyle covets in his offense. I don't see what so hard to understand about this signing.

McKinnon is not good to read and nothing beasts to the rush yards. McKinnon is a wide receiver because he is fast and catches passes?!

Obviously, the Niners would rather have McKiinnon playing rather than sitting on the shelf for a year. This is a significant blow to the offense Shanahan wanted to run when they signed him. I don't agree with the doomsayers who think we never should have signed McKinnon or that he was injury prone to begin with. The Niners paid a steep price, but this guy was the best fit for what they wanted their #1 RB to be. I'm hoping they go out and find another RB to take his roster spot, because I think most Niners fans would agree, Joe Williams is not the guy you want on this roster after his 2nd lackluster showing in training camp. I think Morris and Breida are a decent combo for now, but this injury may have delayed the Niners return to the playoffs for one more year.

I think we should cool it on this playoff talk. Even if McKinnon were healthy, I still gave us an outside shot of making it. While the talent level has improved significantly since 2016, I don't see a team yet that is a playoff lock. I still see 7 to 9 wins, with less blow outs suffered and perhaps we blow a team or two out. I see a team that will be up and down and fail to consistently put together good performances. Considering who we have now, we should resemble the team towards the end of last season, though I am not expecting us to be unbeaten because no one will overlook us.
