On a team where your TE has almost three times as many yards as your best WR, the FB should have plenty of opportunity to get 500 yards receiving. It is not like he ran the ball either, he averaged less than 3 yards per game on the ground.

Does anybody know how often Juice had to block on pass plays because of our poor interior O-line? He's not a good rusher, but he plays a huge role in our running game. He's worth the money imo.

The team did a terrible job protecting the QB, getting rid of Brown rally hurt the OL.

The bulk of the pressures came from the interior...same as last year when he was here.

Agreed. Our tackle play has been stellar both years minus off tackle to the right with Brown naturally. But overall PP from all 3 T's has been one of the best units in the NFL. Period.

Now...about that interior. LOL

Wish there were some better options in FA. Looks like the draft is pretty deep again with good interior guys though

It does look like the best option right now for long term. Perhaps an older veteran + rookie to take over soon. I wouldn't even be opposed to Bradbury at C and pushing Richburg to RG or vice versa.
Dude is getting edgy. Take it to the field bro.

York and now Lynch give us plenty to complain out.

McKinnon is another injury case smh other then signing Jimmy G to an extension this has been a terrible off season. Alll that cap room and couldn't even get one elite player. Sad.

4 years 30 million for Jerrick McKinnon thats almost as bad as the deal Lynch gave Malcom Smith.

The 49ers paid more for McKinnon than the Titans did for super bowl champion Dion Lewis

Why would he get traded?

I believe that we have 3 legit backs in Breida-Mostert-Wilson... all 3 showed that they belong in the league...

McKinnon of course is the most popular so it would just make the best sense to trade him.

Sadly he has no trade value coming off that injury and his contract being so hefty. He's not worth that money to any other team.

Now if Lynch had signed him to a reasonable deal maybe he couldve been put in an AB deal, then sign Bell in FA. That wouldve been the way to go, it looks like signing McKinnon actually hurt the 49ers. Could've used that money on Bell, obviously McKinnon was no help in 2018.

A few more sacks and a few more QB hits surrendered with a rookie RT and a starting center who played three quarters of the season with a knee injury. And if you look at our last 3 games of this past year vs 2017 it showed a sack less per game when Jimmy was under center, meaning a more decisive QB who gets the ball out of his hand quicker actually helps. The loss of Brown did not really hurt this team in pass pro, but getting a healthy Jimmy G and Richburg back plus a healthy Jet who has shown to be far better in pass pro than any of our current HB's can definitely be a boost to our pass pro.

Yeah.

2017: Overall Rank - 10 & PP - 18

Same QB hits and 15 more yards a game in 2018 but 8 less TD's.

The real difference was in that right side of the line in run blocking with Kilgore + Fusco + Brown vs. Richburg + Person + McGlinchey.

That C + RG is way more critical in this scheme than some fans realize. We all know the importance of being able to run off T to in this OZ scheme.

Keep in mind Jimmy barely even played with Trent Brown blocking for him. Brown was out the second half of 2017. In other words, Jimmy made the 2017 OL without Brown better than the 2017 OL with Brown.

82 qb hits in 2016, 125 this past year. The line has gotten worse at PP under Lynch.

Yeah, just the first 2 games; final 3 were Anal Beades.

Brown has performed well this (2017) season, and through 13 games, the third-year tackle earned a PFF overall grade of 79.3, both the highest grade of his career to date and ranked 19th among 81 qualifying players at the position this year.

Brown's performance in pass protection was a big reason for his success this year. He only allowed one sack, six hits and nine hurries on his 415 pass-blocking snaps, for a pass-blocking efficiency of 97.0, good for eighth among 80 tackles with at least 145 snaps in pass protection. His pass-blocking grade of 84.7 also ranks eighth among the same group.

With Brown out, the 'Niners will continue to use veteran guard Zane Beadles to fill the hole at the right side of the line. Beadles filled in for Brown during the team's Week 14 contest against the Houston Texans, but struggled for the most part, and allowed two hits and six hurries on his 35 pass-blocking snaps, for a poor pass-blocking efficiency of 82.9, ranked dead last among tackles with at least 20 pass-blocking snaps in Week 14.
