This

And This!!
It hasn't even been a year removed from ACL, we have had like 2 cases ever of guys making it back well before 1 year and being really ready to play. AP and some other dude I can't even remember. Of course he's had flare ups it's tough rehab, difficult training. I think Mckinnon 's timetable is fine. He's had no invasive clean up on the knee. He will be back sooner than later.

Well before? He tore it before week 1 last year.
What's the rush anyways? Let him come back week 6 full go.

The rush is we need to determine when he will be 100% without any setbacks.

If you IR him he's gone until week 8 at the earliest AND it wastes an incredibly valuable IR spot. What if Staley needs it in week 3? Or Garoppolo? Or Bosa?

You can't just toss those things away. Have 16 weeks to play.

Can't worry about what might happen. We have to deal with what we know. I don't think we should cut him.

We know we will have more injuries. That is a given. Why blow an IR to return spot on a guy who only needs to sit out a couple weeks of the regular season? Forcing him to miss September AND October seems really excessive.
Wait, is the same crowd that 2 years ago was pushing for all these front loaded contracts to use up our massive amount of cap space but still manage it on the backend now mad when these front loaded contracts were to some guys who weren't healthy in that first big pay year?

Exactly, it hasn't even been a year. He tore it in September of last year . He's right on the timetable to be healthy soon. The ACL has not been reinjured. Just a flare up from rehab, totally normal.

Sir we are like 10 days from it being "a full year". I don't know that this argument holds. I'm not hating, I hope he does well. We could use him. But flare ups 1 year out are a reason for concern. Hopefully the PRP induces some healing.

I have a feeling McKinnon might not make it back. Not every ACL case makes it back. But, when you have so many setbacks thus far, the knee is kind of telling you what's up.

What are all the setbacks?
Disappointing "big prize" free agent signing.

Yep. Big mistake to sign to Jet McKinnon for 9 millions and waste to pay as cap space $$$ because he was hiden his injury from ex Viking team games.

It's always a risk to front load these contracts and the players not being either able to play because of injury or because they aren't good enough. I still think front loading is worth the risk to keep the cap space open. Because without cap space you cant sign new players that actually can play.

In McKinnon's case, ShanaLynch's gamble didnt pay off and pretty much gifted a whole bunch of money to McKinnon for nothing. But it wasn't for nothing, it is valuable that we've freed up cap space this year because of the front loading. I think its smart, and you do risk losing money, but you basically buy cap space in doing so.

Some dudes come back sooner than others...no need to rush, we have 3 legit backs and another for the PS.

We're set as it is, if he can come back close to 100% by mid season, that'll be a plus.
