Jerick 'Jet' McKinnon is a Chief.

I don't understand all the handwringing over him returning with a knee brace. It's a lot smarter for him to come back with it on as a precaution than having another setback. If it doesn't really hinder his speed and movement as well as helping him stay on the field, who the hell cares.

Knee brace aint really a good sign for a player like him, means he is still worried about his knee. If he isnt confident in running and cutting then he wont be playing. Plus he shouldn't really be taking that many snaps from Coleman and Brieda, those two were working all offseason while he was still rehabbing. I think it's just unfair for McKinnon to steal snaps from them. And I think Kyle knows this as well.

It doesn't mean that at all.

There are instances where entire offensive lines (none with knee injuries) wear knee braces as a preventative measure. The only thing the brace does is SLIGHTLY redistribute force should the knee be put in an unanatomical position.

They're worried about chronic swelling. Not re-injury. Hence the PRP.
Is anyone expecting this guy to play this season if he stays on the team?

I'm not.

He won't play Thursday. But the Niners will know if his knee has responded well to the PRP by this time tomorrow.

It either swells or it doesn't. Two straight practices with no swelling on day 3-4 would be excellent for his ability to play early in the season (and avoid IR).

Nope. I.R. for sure. We have 10 guys that legit can run in this offense. Sucks but his career "may" be over.

I think they may deactivate him on game day for a couple weeks. They'd be doing that to one RB anyways (when they're all healthy).

It's fair to assume the RB position will sustain some of the usual injuries. So, yeah, in lieu of another devastating injury I would expect he sees the field.
Just IR the guy for 6 weeks and see where we're at. Maybe even red shirt him another year. Then keep Wilson.
Cool .. I still think Brieda will be our top back

You do know football is as much about the mental aspect as it is about the physical part right?? One hesitation, one stutter can be the difference between winning a losing a game. If hes out there on a critical drive and he hesitates to make the play, that game is over.

8 weeks. But why would they waste a highly valuable IR slot if the guy doesn't actually need it? We will collect more severe injuries in the first few weeks of the season. Would be nice to have two unused IR slots left.

They would need to deactivate at RB each game anyways.

Maybe but its telling that they pretty much showcased Brieda last week but never really used Coleman. I think that's a hint as well. They never used Coleman on tosses , screens, wheel routes, out wide, slant routes, off tackle runs, go routes, etc. nothing. Lol just remember that. they used Brieda for most of those things

Thanks for the correction. What would you do with McKinnon?

Assuming any subsequent inflammation is minimal to non-existent... I would just deactivate him for week 1 and see if he can take game snaps week 2.

When the RB corps is healthy SOMEBODY is going to get deactivated

I looked up Terrell Davis today and I hadn't realized the Broncs drafted him at the bottom of the 6th rd. Who cares if Brieda's a UDFA if he's a perfect fit for a Shanahan offense?
Will this dude ever play
