Still will be surprised if they shut him down for the entire year over tendonitis in the knee. With RBs you have to assume you will lose 1-2 for extended periods of time durning the regular season. That's especially true if you have playoff aspirations.

What did I miss?
Was Lynch in the operating room and do something to prevent McKinnon from healing quickly?
Lynch has a contract and has accumulated enough talent that many observers around the league are saying is good enough to put them in the playoffs this year. Coming from the total train wreck of three years ago, that is pretty good.

Yet another injury salary we'll never get to see in on the field. Is it too early to mention injury settlement and just move on?
It isn't too early to mention, but there is no great reason too. He got almost all his money last year. Might as well stash him on I.R. and pray for a miracle. Never know it could pay dividends if we lose a guy and he finally heals at the turn.
Ummmm, NO!! We cannot do that anymore! We just can't. At this point this is just money thrown in a black hole. Yet again we're paying for the hope of potential ironing out. This cannot continue in perpetuity. At some point we have to cut bait. I wish him the best and hope he heals completely to play again, but I say that we move on now.
You literally don't read do you...it costs money to cut him now...it doesn't save any.

I still think McKinnon should make the initial 53 and then MAYBE go on short-term IR.
Just keep eight OL. No chance the 9th or 10th OL is better than anybody we'd have on the practice squad anyways. Azeez already has room on this team. Same with Moore. Also, can easily keep two TE.

Agreed, if and when he goes on short-term IR they could also use that roster spot to get someone who was cut.

IR designated to return? Gives him 9 weeks (starting now) to recover. I dont think he will be on the team next year but since we save basically no money this year if we cut him now, why not see if he can be useful at the end of the season? I feel bad for the guy, i was really excited to see what he can do but it doesn't look good.

He only played 1 down of football with this team and that was in the preseason. One of the worst signings by the franchise that I can remember and that's saying something! Cut your losses and move on
Between Soloman Thomas and McKinnon, this fanbase has a really hard time accepting that these players just aren't very valuable when it comes to production on gameday.

Its funny. They could have waited a year, and overpaid for LeVeon instead. Man, that sounds good right about now
