Saying he's "milking the cap" is being cynical. He's doing no such thing. He's getting paid what the team agreed to pay him. Injuries are always a risk in this game.

Fans get WAAAAY too worried about the cap. It's really a very loose cap these days when compared to the 00s and especially the 90s.

I seriously doubt he will be trying to milk the cap. Guys like him are ultra competitive and are in the NFL because they love the game and want to achieve.

It would be killing him to sit on the sideline and not being able to get out there and show everyone his skills.

Think about it.

Although you might not like the word milking. It is still very true. You don't get paid to practice and rehab. You get "game" checks. You may get a workout bonus but you get paid after games.

Actually back in those days you just had to pay a luxury tax and you could stock up.

When they put guarantees in contracts, being paid for just that is always a possibility. So yes, if a team gives a player like Jet that exact contract, and he gets injured, rehab and practice is exactly what they are paying him for, at least until he's medically cleared. That's how a contract works.

Of course they're paying these guys to play in games. NC's wording implies that these guys are intentionally getting injured so that they can sit on bench and collect checks like that was their plan all along. It's b******t. They're not milking anything. McKinnon didn't intentionally tear his ACL. I doubt he love the fact that he's gone through a year of painful rehab from his ACL injury only to have another setback right before the season.

One thing I will say is nobody on here knows his actual condition at the moment. But the fact he hasn't made it through a single practice this year is kind of telling. He could come back in a few months, nobody knows for sure.

But anyone who wants to feel bad for him and act like it's not his fault needs to remember when the staff asked him to wear a brace when he returned on August 6th and he refused. To me he incurs some responsibility for not doing what the medical staff told him he needed to do. Depending on how big of an issue it was I would consider taking it to arbitration if possible.

Also everyone who says cutting him helps nothing needs to think about the medical staff. They aren't going to fire someone because McKinnon gets cut. With all of our medical issues I would expect cutting one of the players likely consuming a lot those resources would free them up to concentrate on others that actually have a chance to help us down the road.

The medical staff that originally diagnosed it as a strained right calf and let him practice on a torn knee?

An ALC is a big injury. It takes a lot of time to heal up right. Two guys who have a similar injury will heal up differently on a different time frame. Biology is complex. It could be one small aspect that keeps causing a flare up or it might be a particular guys own biology that slows it ie genetics. Knees are sensitive and weight bearing. It does not take much. I would say he needs at least a few more months, maybe even six before he will be fit. But it is still an unknown. I feel sorry for the guy. It must be killing him. Hard decision for management.

Even if ALC.
This Jet always grounded. May as well nickname him Boeing.
Between the money wasted on him, malcolm Smith and jimmy that should be enough f**k ups to cost shannylynch their jobs.

Can't defend the Malcolm Smith move all that much, but how do a bunch of injuries cost them their jobs?

LMAO ok, Jimmy looked good in the Chiefs game. Smith was a bad signing, but it never hurt their cap, and Jet's injury is a shame, no one saw it coming he never had any injuries with Minnesota, so no this shouldn't cost Shanahan or Lynch their jobs, why say stupid stuff like that? Would you rather have Baalke back? Or Chip Kelly? Jim Tomsula?

I'll disagree on Jimmy. That was actually a good move. But moving up for Beathard and Pettis, drafting a torn ACL in Street, drafting Joe Williams, etc. are all reasons to hold Lynch and Shanahan accountable for a piss-poor roster if we don't finish with a reasonable record (injuries or no injuries).

You can also add piere garcon to that list. As well as the poor drafts. It's so bad

Agreed, can't defend the Smith signing, it didn't hurt the teams cap, but he never played much for us. Injuries should and won't cost them their jobs.
