because of what he did as a viking two years ago before knee surgery means he will be awesome for us. ok

What drives me the most crazy is how people are dumping on Coleman to prop up McKinnon.

The one and only time McKinnon had a better NFL season than Coleman did was in 2014....when McKinnon had 672 total yards and 0 touchdowns, and Coleman was playing for Indiana University.

Coleman is a much better choice, the Jet is history, he never took off.

Thank you people really get caught up in the bs. Coleman is a better runner than Mckinnon, Coleman has gotten better every year. This was just his first year in SF. Even when he was struggling he was still making plays helping the team. He was injured you can see what he looked like when fresh. Showing vision and burst.
Aren't we going to keep 4? Mostert, Coleman, Wilson, and who? Brieda and hope he's over the fumbleitis? I'm thinking I'm missing somebody but my mind is blank as usual.
I really don't like Coleman's running style. He literally runs into the line doesn't hit any holes and falls down for 2 yards. I don't see why people can't see this he did this all year. He's not getting better, he is not improving. He was pretty good in the passing game when he was given the chance but whenever we put in Raheem it was a drastic difference. Even Matt B was better but he decided to fumble four times in about 10 carries so that cost him. We can keep Coleman which I'm fine with however he's not a good runner.

Are you talking about those games where he was banged up / injured and obviously worn down ?? Matt Breida was not better where do yall get this from ?? Lol he did absolutely nothing since the browns game and even most of that came on 1 run. Breida was not in theere in crunchtime nor on the GL , never when it mattered

He's an avg RB who's gonna be the 12th highest paid RB in 2020. No thanks.

coleman is a well above average running back. the jet is,,,,, nothing... if some are worried so much about the money,,, and as we have been told zillions of times.. its not our money... then talk to coleman about restructuring. as steve said,,, tearing down coleman to prop up the alleged jet is stupid

For me it's about money.

Id rather pay McK $1M, save around $11M and give that cash to one of our FAs or sign some...then draft a scheme fit RB late vs pay Coleman $5M and cut McK and eat around $4M.

Explain to me how's he's better than avg? Explain to me why he should be the 12th highest paid RB?

It IS about the money.

This isn't about Coleman vs McK...they should restructure McK regardless. They save MORE money (which they need right now) vs just cutting him...if he blows in TC/OTAs then cut him later.

You can find someone to do what Coleman does in the draft. RB is the most replaceable spot in football. mostert was what on 7 teams and PS for yrs an just ran wild for SF. We have a system and coaching staff that CAN get no name RBs rolling. Why the f**k would you not take advantage of that? They should never be overpaying for RBs.

FWIW Coleman is on a one yr team-option deal. There's nothing to restructure.

Fans really need to go to our Team Information thread to get educated on the cap...where we're at and what the FO needs to do to get under this year esp. if they want to keep AA or Ward/Sanders and extend Kittle and Buckner.

if its about money. and if some think you can dump coleman and find a guy working at taco tico to come in and do what coleman can do. then you can say and i believe this.... you can find someone in the draft who can do what ward does without the injury history making him expendable.. and there are a million guys who can run fast like goodwin can. same to be said for pettis.. i think the tag should be used on aa. and then work to extend kittle buck and do your best to keep sanders because other than.... well we hope taylor and hurd will be ok,,,,,, i have yet to hear anyone tell me what the plan is if we dump a known valuable season changer commodity like sanders was. i think breida should be dumped cuz i am sick of having a heart attack any time he touches the football.

That's kind of the Shanny formula. Find quick average backs and make them effective runners with the zone blocking. It's the same thing his father did. As long as it works it keeps us from having to use a high draft pick on a RB. I don't know if any of our backs would star in a different system.

Definitely. And let's be honest. Coleman was picked up very late in FA last year. If we cut him and his $5M now, who's going to pick him up now...a year later?

There's a very real possibility of bringing him back on a low end contract or keep him on speed dial.

This system manufactures high end production from low end capital...Breida, Mostert, Wilson. The only issue with them is the occasional fumbles and none are pass catchers that Kyle is going to game plan around.

...which leads to this:

There's a real possibility McKinnon will take a massive pay cut to fill out that role (he's also an excellent pass protector...something you KNOW we need).

And if he doesn't look great in the off season, simple cut. No biggie.
