just a PSA on what SF is currently spending on RBs (if they pickup Brieda's option)

Mostert-$3M
Coleman-$5M
Jet-$8.5M
Wilson-$660K
Brieda- low tender (get no pick if team signs him) $2M. Qualifying offer $3.2M (get a 2nd if a team signs him).
Juice $6.7M (already picked up his option).

That's over $25M on RBs/FB

cutting Coleman, restructuring McK, and not tendering Breida would save SF like $13M.... there's your Sanders contract for this yr (or AA).

Go get a late rd outside zone RB who's gonna be dirt cheap for 4 yrs.

This me and you agree. Though I really wouldn't spend a late round pick on one.

why not? The odds of a late RD RB coming right in and contributing is much greater than really any other position IMO. I also feel like good RB prospects drop much more in the draft than any other position in football.

If Breida isn't back, then I'm with you, NY, on taking a late pick on a back.

It IS about the money.

This isn't about Coleman vs McK...they should restructure McK regardless. They save MORE money (which they need right now) vs just cutting him...if he blows in TC/OTAs then cut him later.

You can find someone to do what Coleman does in the draft. RB is the most replaceable spot in football. mostert was what on 7 teams and PS for yrs an just ran wild for SF. We have a system and coaching staff that CAN get no name RBs rolling. Why the f**k would you not take advantage of that? They should never be overpaying for RBs.

FWIW Coleman is on a one yr team-option deal. There's nothing to restructure.

And at this point they havent even talked to sanders , he is most likely hitting FA so that point is moot.

Damn that's a lot of $ on backs. I agree about late rounders. Or find a 3 down back lol. Maybe 2021 draft. Did anyone ever.cerify we made an offer to Bell?

I really don't like Coleman's running style. He literally runs into the line doesn't hit any holes and falls down for 2 yards. I don't see why people can't see this he did this all year. He's not getting better, he is not improving. He was pretty good in the passing game when he was given the chance but whenever we put in Raheem it was a drastic difference. Even Matt B was better but he decided to fumble four times in about 10 carries so that cost him. We can keep Coleman which I'm fine with however he's not a good runner.

Are you talking about those games where he was banged up / injured and obviously worn down ?? Matt Breida was not better where do yall get this from ?? Lol he did absolutely nothing since the browns game and even most of that came on 1 run. Breida was not in theere in crunchtime nor on the GL , never when it mattered

Lol nope. I watched every single game were you watching when he would just do exactly what I said not find a hole, run into a lineman and fall down. It was so frustrating that most every single fan was wondering why the hell he was in there and not Raheem. Breida wasn't that great either, but my point still being Coleman is really not worth 5 million even though we can use him. I just hope Shanahan doesn't have him starting every single game like he did last year.

How is my pt moot? Lol

they're spending entirely too much money on RBs. They've been able to take UDFAs and get great production for a 10th of the cost.

Our running game didn't miss a beat when Coleman wasn't playing.

If you think they should keep Coleman vs put that cash towards Sanders I'll bet money you'd be the only one to claim that.

The point you keep trying to make between Coleman and Sanders lol

Because Coleman gives this team the most cap space by cutting...team option deal my man. It could very well come to keeping him and moving on from Sanders.

He also plays the most replaceable position in the NFL and when he didn't play, SF was more than fine.

I have no idea why you have such a lovefest for him? Are you guy related? It's the only thing that makes any sense.

Yeah it is a ton of cash which isn't necessary. Imo Kyle will add a RB to this group. He's done it every yr.

They haven't talked to Ward either. How many deals have you seen made this off season so far? The CBA is holding back everything.

Also I'm not saying he does get resigned. I am saying they are currently paying too much for RBs. I am saying they have more important players that are harder to replace up for contracts.
Is Coleman's contract a true two year deal or a one year with a second year option?

Reason I ask is because we could potentially get two players counted towards the compensatory formula if we let both Coleman and Breida walk. I like Wilson a lot and think he has starting caliber talent, just needs to hold onto the ball.

They can't make any deals officially until March 16th.
Thats when you will start seeing all the reports of deals that have been made.
