Thats when you will start seeing all the reports of deals that have been made.

You are correct. CBA has also slowed things down

True I was just reading up on that. Team's don't know if they will operate with the current rules or the new ones if passed

Im just saying , the team doesnt seem to eager in talking to him.

They haven't talked to Ward either. How many deals have you seen made this off season so far? The CBA is holding back everything.

Also I'm not saying he does get resigned. I am saying they are currently paying too much for RBs. I am saying they have more important players that are harder to replace up for contracts.

Can't make any deals official until March 18th.

This me and you agree. Though I really wouldn't spend a late round pick on one.

why not? The odds of a late RD RB coming right in and contributing is much greater than really any other position IMO. I also feel like good RB prospects drop much more in the draft than any other position in football.

It's also a greater chance for an UDFA RB coming in and contributing than any other position. Especially in this system.

I'd rather use the late round pick on a developmental player than a RB. We can find just as good as an UDFA as we can a late round pick. Heck we could probably find another cast off like Mostert if we really wanted too.

I think one thing being overlooked is Coleman's pass blocking. Raheem and Breida are good at it but Coleman is on another level , he is always so physical with defenders. You wondered why he was always on the field ?? Because of his pass blocking and receiving skills. I believe it was MNF and he went for a blitz pickup and took the guy off his feet. He did that many times this season. Can not be understated how beneficial that is to a QB and HC

He is always knocking somebody backwards, might not sound all that shiny.but he always gives Jimmy enough time. I think even the announcers praised him quite a bit

I mean we're talking about late day 3 picks (6th/7th RD) if there's a RB you want there's not reason not to get him. When they're UDFA they get to choose what team they want to play for.

Mostert graded out identical in pass-blocking to Coleman (60.9) this past yr. McK is regarded as one of the best pass-blocking RBs in football.

Well he was , dont know what he is going too look like this year. He definitely has lost some speed. But thats why i said Coleman brings a physical element in pass blocking. Mostert is good no doubt. I think thats why he stays on this team if nothing else. Breida isnt what you call good pass blocking rb. So its Mostert and Coleman most likely

If they're paying Coleman $5M because he's an above avg pass-blocker, that's ridiculous. He's not the best running back on the team and is being paid like he is.

This team is strapped for cash, has more important people to pay and his money is sitting there like a sore thumb.

Yeah Coleman is not that good. We all saw that he is really not a good runner, cannot break tackles and literally runs into the line and falls down for 2 yards. I don't know the standards that some of these 49ers fans have but I would rather have Raheem running the ball and get Coleman off the team because he literally provides nothing that we don't have already.
Why the hate? Colemans fine. He good.

The same is true for the more important positions.

Coleman is pretty solid it's not hating it's just a fact that he is way less valuable to the Niners then Raheem. And at $5 million we could put that money to a better player rather than a back up running back that is pretty good at pass protection and catching but not that good at running or breaking tackles.

he's avg and has gotten outplayed by a UDFA. This team is in need of cap relief and he happens to play the most replaceable position in football ….throw in he's on a team-option deal IMO it's a easy cut.

not really....How many 6th-7th RD CB/WR/OT/QB/EDGE guys are coming in day 1 and producing?

RB is a position that is very transferable from college to the NFL. It's a reason why you see a lot of rookie RBs become successful very quickly vs a lot of other positions.
