Why the hate? Colemans fine. He good.

he's avg and has gotten outplayed by a UDFA. This team is in need of cap relief and he happens to play the most replaceable position in football ….throw in he's on a team-option deal IMO it's a easy cut.

No he's not, your dead wrong.

And speaking of getting outplayed, Mostert got outplayed and couldn't win snaps over average talent like Mike Davis, Shaun Draughn and Dujuan Harris in 2016......

Not everything is so black and white. This offense is perfect for both Coleman and Raheem.

Chip Kelly and his scheme suck balls.

Bad excuse man, not a good look.

Well if you want SF to resign any starters or get someone in FA you should care about his contract.

He's been stealing money the last two years - just cut him already. I don't give a s**t about the money lost.

Past money is a sunk cost. Can you bring him back cheap and does he add a missing extra dimension, i.e. pass catching out of the backfield?

If yes, then who cares how much he collected while injured? If he can play then keep him.
If Jet will reduce his salary for this season by a lot, then I am game for letting him come back for the 2020 season to see what he can bring to the table. A RB stable of Mostert-McKinnon-Wilson is fine by me, assuming we cut/trade Coleman, and let Breida walk in FA.

And before you talk about the money we need to re-sign Sanders, restructuring McKinnon (and eventually cutting) and dumping Solomon Thomas (a player that no objective person could believe is more valuable than Coleman), would accomplish basically the same thing in terms of saving money.

There are other creative ways to save money over cutting the 2nd most reliable running back on our team.

listen I'm not trying to be a dick but you clearly don't understand how the cap works.

Thomas' contract is completely GTD this yr. $8.9M is on the book regardless if he plays or is cut. The ONLY way they can save any money regarding Thomas is trading him AND they still have him on the books for $4.6M

https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/san-francisco-49ers/

a couple reasons I bring up Coleman as a cut candidate....

1. He is on a team-option deal this yr. Which means he has NO GTD cash. SF has no dead money hit. The only other guys that are on this are Nzeocha/Person/Coleman. and IMO all three can go.

2. He plays the most replaceable position in the NFL. We have a staff and HC that seems to always find great scheme fit RBs and there's proof of that for decades.

3. He's an avg RB. He was 3rd in total yards in our RB room. He's stats from this past yr are avg in everything.

With the amount of resources for cap help we have in here, it's remarkable how little fans still even understand the basics. Madden has wrecked this generation. LOL

Show me where I said cut. I'll wait.

2,944 yds, 28 touchdowns with the Falcons in three seasons... in a timeshare receiving less than 40% of play time...... thats not average dude

There's a reason Shanahan brought him to the 49ers. A back up running back putting up those numbers is ridiculous. Not many can do that..

Dude I don't care about what he did with the falcons. I care what he's done on his current team....the one that's currently paying him.

Shanny brought him because he was dirt cheap last yr. he wasn't looked at as a top priority signing. Why do you think he was so cheap?

Tell me what "dumping" a player means? If you want to say trade then say trade.

Exactly. Restructuring saves more cash and he gets a chance to show if he's healthy. If not move on.

I'm still drafting a RB on day 3. We met with Darrynton Evans who's a ideal fit for OZ. There's a ton of late round RBs that can fit SF.

Personally I'd love someone like Cam Akers if he's magically fell (which I don't see happening).

You dont care but Shanahan does.

Wrong, he didnt expect him to still be out there. Shanhan got on the phone real fast with his agent. He would have gotten a payday if he signed with other teams but he decided to sign with the 49ers for a cheap deal.

Hahaha a pay day....stop making s**t up. He had no market and basically signed a 1 yr $3.56M deal with a TEAM OPTION in 2020.

He plays the most replaceable position in the NFL. It's a position where you NEED to get the most cash as soon as possible because the shelf life of RBs is much shorter. It's a position where a cheap rookie can do it just as well and we see it happens over and over.

SF had stupid money last yr to pay people like Coleman. That ship has sailed. Good teams don't overpay for avg players when they have a very easy out like they currently do.

Look again he could have gotten 6 -6.5 mil over4 or 5 years. That makes no sense lmaooo , Coleman is not an avg player. You do sound bias though ,

You better hope Mostert lives up to the hype next season or you're gonna regret this. You dont cut players that are an important piece of your offense
I agree 5m is a little rich but dam man you just hating on colie. Hes a good runner when hes healthy a good blocker a good pass catcher and he doesnt fumble. You win with guys like that.

Are you jets agent?
I'm happy that the front office is busy restructuring contracts and making more cap space while working to sign the free agents they think are necessary. We can all speculate but they are the ones that have to make the decisions and we may not like some of them. Remember that a good front office makes decisions not just based on next season but 2 or 3 years down the road. Every time they extend or sign a player they need to be looking at who will be affected next season and beyond. Like a good chess player, they have to think 2 or 3 moves ahead.

I said what I said. Dumping him as in getting rid of him. I am well aware that we would need to trade him to save money.

Mostert, Wilson, breida and Jet, assuming he restructures his contract. Cut Coleman so we save some Cap Room and draft a RB for competition.

That's what I would do anyway.
