Jet is the biggest ? on this team. Hasn't played in 2 years with the same injury. Not too worried about his skills as much as I'm worried about his playing mindset with his injury.

Literally every move he made in his workouts is something he will be doing on the NFL field. He's been cleared to play since Feb. I'm not worried about anything when he gets on the field outside of some rust and maybe lost a little juice.

Need to cut him some slack - he's working real hard.

During a phone conversation with The Athletic on Wednesday, McKinnon said his knee feels normal and that he hasn't had the pain or soreness that plagued him when he was trying to come back from the original injury last year. He said he's being smart with his knee, but that he's become confident enough in it that he's ready to test himself alongside Peterson (now with Washington) and the crew that trains in Houston.

"When it comes to separating and beating linebackers and safeties in man-to-man coverage, I definitely think he's an issue for teams," Shanahan said in 2018, shortly after the 49ers signed McKinnon to a four-year, $30 million contract. "I think this league, when it comes to third downs and things like that, you move the chains based off of matchups, which allows you to get points in the long run."

Early, it seemed as if the 49ers' grand investment in McKinnon would pay off. His defensive teammates found him difficult to cover during 2018 practices and he was perhaps Jimmy Garoppolo's top target that offseason. McKinnon's rabbit-quick moves seemed like a perfect match for the quarterback's hair-trigger release and accuracy on short-to-intermediate throws

Dude has always been an incredibly hard worker. I had a feeling, once that knee was fully healed, he'd have a legit chance to make it all the way back and now he doesn't need to be leaned on as an every down back.

Like you said, he's excellent at pass protection too. If we had him in the 4Q of the Superbowl, he could have stayed in to help with our pass protection fail AND got Kittle out in routes instead. That could have been the difference in the game right there. Kyle lost a previous Superbowl on a RB who failed on his pass protection. That's not going to be an issue with McKinnon.

Jerick is trying hard to get back - I wish him nothing but good luck. He'll be taking Breida's spot.

Great way to look at it. McKinnon could wind up being a major upgrade to Breida as well, if healthy. Would love a 4-RB stable of Mostert, Coleman, Wilson, and McKinnon.

Agreed that not much can be counted on, but if healthy Jet offers much more thank Breida.
Schematically, having Jet, Juice, Aiyuk, Debo and Kittle on the field at once would create huge issues.
Teams would have to choose between playing a version of dime and being killed by the running game or keeping LB's on the field and getting eaten up by Kittle, Jet and Juice underneath

It's going to be real interesting to see how Jet comes back after spending so much time in the gym. The dude must be a workout freak to put up the numbers he did at the combine. Running
a 4.41 40 and 40" vert are one thing, but 32 reps on the bench is absurd for a RB.

Jets recovery has been remarkable!

Seems as though he is lucky to have his career back, he almost lost everything on what seemed to be a routine injury. Really pulling for this guy for overcoming such a horrific injury.
Jet putting in the work

Footwork looks good.. Hope he contributes heavily for this season's SB run..
Hopefully this is the year that we get a return on the investment in this guy.

I am excited about him returning. His knee is looking good and has been progressing well. Not only can he catch but he has a great set of hands as well. I can see why Shanahan likes him because he is running back come WR all in one. His versatility coupled with our modified WR corp will demoralise opponents in both our run and pass offence.
