His vision is outstanding and he had a high pass protection grade. What are you talking about?

Cook is a 2nd round pick who looked good for four games before going out for the year.

Generational talent?!?!??!

He wasn't even a Rookie-RB-September-2017-able talent (that was Kareem Hunt).

Take some breaths, man.

For the love of god people stop looking at it as him being JUST a RB. he's a OW ( a real one) he's not gonna be a 1K RB he's gonna be a 1,200 line of scrimmage guy which is huge in today's game.

team him up with a Royce Freeman and we're gonna be very dangerous.
I took a look at Kyle's offense in 2017 Atlanta and took a look at Royce's draft profile, man I like the way you think!

NYniners85!

Him or Chubb let's make it happen...we can b***h about the contract, but you get a mid rd starting RB on a rookie deal for 4 yrs and now you're basically paying two guys that $7 million per yr. all gravy
Another solid move. I will wait until I see the numbers but I assume he was a target of Kyle's and will be schemed up nicely. I wonder if LaMicheal James would have gotten off to a better start if Kyle were coaching him? So nice to have an offensive coach that actually knows offense. Another piece to the puzzle. Can't wait to see the formations with McKinnon and Goodwin on the field. Demon Speed.

Worst in the league.
caught 51 balls for around 400 yards last season. I'm sure that number will go up plus his speed is perfect for this system. RBs have to do more than run the ball these days. Kamara won rookie of the year and didn't even run for 1000 yards. Plus McKinnon can pass block.

Stop making stuff up.

McKinnon's pass protection is very good. Among the best for RBs in the NFL.

I know everyone is excited about the direction of this franchise. But people need to take a step back.

This is an awful contract for a player that should be making a third of what he signed for.

Add Earl Mitchell, Malcolm Smith, and Kyle Juszyzk to the mix and you've got a track record of overpaying for mediocre players/unimportant positions.

And I love everything Garoppolo, but time and again we're seeing franchises succeed when QBs are on their rookie contracts and they can use that cap space to build the rest of the team. 49ers could have gone that route, but opted to pay big at the QB position. Eagles and Rams are prime examples.

Pump the brakes.

Lol.

Lol he brings up earl Mitchell's contract what? His cap hit is like $3.8 million wow just awful.

What a joke...people actually think players don't get overpaid a little in FA? Less then 24 hrs ago everyone was whining about not signing anyone NOW everyone is whining that we did...I see why we get called the whiners

If people can't open their eyes and see what Mckinnon will actually be in this offense (not just a RB) then I don't know what to tell ya.

I don't give to flying f**k if he gets yards on the ground or in the air but he's gonna happen in this system.

I hate how some people just nitpick little things ... he mentioned Mitchell and other people ... why just focus on Mitchell?? Yeah that's 3-4 million u can save by drafting 6th/7th rounded to fill that hole and Roll over the $ instead of spending on redundant position !

Juice got paid what?? 5mil per year ? Because he was offensive weapon?? Lol.. he got 300 yards receiving !

I thought Shanahans specialty is finding rbs in draft... So many good rb's coming out this year .. sorry I just don't see reason to spend 30mil on someone that was 3rd on his teams depth chart!

Look at belichick how he builds his team, I don't see many overpaid players!
This dude can't handle 20 carries a game and we're paying him like he can

You think you're shook now... wait until the Niners trade up to take Barkley. Just to watch you all burn.

His vision is horrible

McKinnon should be an excellent 3rd down back, WIP in early down run game.

He was unreliable on running on 1st down. I'd expect another RB to play first and then sub him in for 2nd/3rd

Seriously I don't know what kind of drink everyone is having here... absolutely no questioning anything and saying in shanalynch/ maarte we trust ... and if someone questions the contract, everyone talks it's overreaction and give the excuse that we have so much cap space

Well we had the money because we had to purge everyone and start from scratch but now we are rewarding contracts like the money is too much for us to carry and just want to unload it ... I'd rather have given Norwell his 60 mill instead of doling out $30 to mckinnon

Then you dont want a Shanahan ran offense.

If you want ground and pound go cheer for the Jaguars or Cowboys.

Could we please retire the term "offensive weapon"? This sounds like a term a Wal-Mart corporate executive made up. "John, stop calling yourself a 'cashier' -- we prefer to use the title 'Product Transaction Quality Assurance Representative'!"

We get it, McKinnon is a threat out of the backfield. Lots of running backs are.

Only he's not just catching balls out of the backfield...he can lineup outside or in the slot.

What would you like to call him? RB/WR? OW is easier.

Go look at Alvin Kamara and how they use him in NO...that's how he will be used.
