Considering we just went to the SB, and will likely be back in playoff contention with a healthy team next year, and considering McKinnon is no prized free agent, it makes very little sense that he would be laughing off the notion that he'd return for any other reason besides the team not being interested in him.

This is not the Tomsula/Kelly 49ers. Players want to be here. Some have just accepted the reality of the situation.

The biggest aspect John Lynch needs to fix is the FA he signs and the deals he gives them. Pierre Garcon, Mckinnon, Richburg, Ford, Alexander, Jimmy G, Malcolm Smith. You can add Sherm since he had only one healthy season. Those have been nothing but wasted of draft capital and money. They are usually hurt and way overpaid. The best signings he has done are Juice and K'waun, maybe
The good thing is now he has players on the roster who actually deserves the pay. The money should go to Kittle, Warner, Bosa, Deebo.
Smart GM let the first wave of FA pass and let the s**tty team overpay the biggest names in FA. You get sneaky good players for cheaper deals, players who weren't performing as well or underutilized. Look at Zadarius Smith, Adrian Amos, Shaq Barrett, Demario Davis, Roby Anderson, Bradbury and so on. Those are the FA you need to bring, the ones who are not so hyped up during the offseason. For example this year some sneaky good names are Curtis Samuel and Taylor Moton.

Non-viable players/contracts need to be cut ASAP. I have faith in the FO to re-do this roster and make the Niners playoff ready again. Lynch has enough experience to bring in players to help us get the next Lombardi. Also, I don't see trading good assets for some QB who is already pissed off about the way an organization handles it's players. That is kind of the way it is in the NFL. He may want to go play baseball

Not really he stayed healthy the whole season, some guys just have a run of bad luck and then bounce back.
