Who do we give the ball to on 3rd and 3, 1 minute left in the 4th with the Niners up by 3?

We have Jimmy G check it down to McKinnon or Breida like against the Jags

Kyle will throw the ball.
The McKinnon signing means the clock is officially ticking on Joe Williams, who was drafted to be the speed back in Kyle's offense. But Breida outperformed him in training camp last year and Williams wound up on IR. That won't happen again. Williams will either show enough flashes of ability to earn a spot or he'll be sent packing.

A lot of people here who know their stuff and have been playing football in college or earlier have been saying that since Kyle came on board. *I* could see it and I'm not anywhere near some of these folks in terms of expertise. Now to compliment Breida/McKinnon/Joe Williams etc.. we need that thunder than can operate in the zone run. Preferably a big back that has outside speed to scare defenses. Not a Saquan (he'll be gone), but maybe somebody *like* him somewhere in the 3rd through 5th rounds?

We will be up 14+, not by 3.

Play action all day my guy. Shannahan ain't the run it up the middle on 3rd and 3 every time type of guy. But when we do run on 3rd and short juice will get some looks for sure.

Exactly. We didnt just fork over a tremendous amount of money to be a power run team.

The WZ is seething right now

Isn't Schrager a niner homer? lol he also said that we had quietly one of the better offseasons this year.
i quietly think so

He's still a reporter man...he's not gonna lie about other teams willing to pay him because he might like the 49ers (which I don't think he does).

Lol, potato head's response to the McKinnon signing:

Lmao, already looking like Kentwan Balmer who can't handle competition.

Wait wtf is going on here? I don't get it

If this signing is what takes him to start stepping up his game then he has another thing coming. Looks like he didnt take advantage last year when he had his chance. Better bring it or he'll be

Worked well for him in the Superbowl.

Definitely a better fit for the scheme than Hyde. Money to ne is whatever - I'm not paying him.

No but at some point if we are a great team we will be at cap limit, where cost effectiveness is a huge factor. Overspending leads to letting a great young player walking, or depletes depth

McKinnon for $4 million per year would be great

$5 million would be decent

Above 5 is overpaying

When the rest of the RBs on the team are on rookie/UDFA contracts who cares? It's like investing in another position group.

I am generally confused as to why this poster said this

Anytime you have to redshirt a rookie RB, its largely a whiff. Any thing Williams can provide at this point will be a bonus but he showed up out of shape and got beat out by an undrafted back after the team had traded up for him.

That is a major disappointment anyway you slice it.

Correct

Joe will be fighting for a roster spot in TC
Agree. I think the signing of McKinnon means they may cut Joe if he's not up to playing in the NFL. I think Reuben's DV issue comes into play and they have learned their lesson.
