We should rely on Joe Williams as much as we rely on Joshua Garnett. You don't!

...but if they come in hungry and earn it.
i got fooled last year when he said ward will be a foundation for our secondary. foster will be the foundation for our defense and the feel good story of joe williams will motivate him to be a good running back for us. of course jh said crabtree has the best hands in the nfl but thats beside the point. i will go by what i see and not what the powers to be say. case in point kilgore, again i digress

Yeah but Richburg is now our center

Did this apply when Donahue and Baalke were GM's or is this just a recent development?

Its perfectly fine to not completely be on board with every single decision a team makes.
i agree, but you know this as well as i do.. when people do question it. they are called haters, trolls and are told to go root for another team. sad thing is. until you came down from the mother ship. the mods here just let that stuff go. thank you

Touches were factored in for the other RBs also

Basically Hyde and McKinnon had the same exact yards per touch once you remove his BS chicanery.

He either doesn't understand statistics or is just a massive homer.

Rob Lowder is a moron. He is literally including kick return yardage to boost these averages. How stupid can a person be? What an asinine statistic.

Is that true?

Yes, the statistic didn't pass the smell test (I knew McKinnon averaged like 3.8 YPR last season) so I did some quick research:

Rushing:
150 carries, 570 yards (3.8 YPA)

Receiving:
51 receptions, 421 yards (8.3 YPA)

Kick returns:
12 returns, 312 yards (12.0 Y/R)

Rushing + receiving:
201 touches, 991 yards (4.9 yards/touch)

Rushing + receiving + kick returns:
213 touches, 1303 yards (6.12 yards/touch)

Lies, damned lies and statistics.

Was about to type this.

What were you saying again?
So he did yards per reception + yards per carry and divided it by two:

8.3 Y/R + 3.8 Y/A = 12.1 / 2 = 6.05 yards per touch

Good god, he's even dumber than I thought.
Shanny really loves Georgia Southern RB's I see

He did YPC and YPR

3.8 YPC +8.3 YPR =12.01 /2=6.05

His math is still off...every touch? He essentially weighted reception touches over run touches

Very true. But shouldnt you wait until you see the contract details unless you simply hate the player that was signed? A fully guaranteed contract is much different than one with a lot of incentives and we simply do not know at this point.

Kaepernick and his 150 mile an hour fastball didn't know how to throw a screen.

i do wonder what it looks like. do you think it looks pretty. do you think it gains yardage. do you think it could lead to the back breaking it for a touchdown?

Why.... pay.... so..... much....?

Trust in Paraag, once the real numbers come out I am sure he has to be an elite RB to reach 7.5

Sounds like 4 other teams were bidding hard too...basically Juice 2.0 scenario.

I wonder if the Rams were one of those teams.

Adam S. didn't note all of them but one was the Bucs.

Interesting, I read an article where the Bucs use a mix of man and zone. My opinion, they don't know what they want on offense. Bad thing when your OC doesn't have a strong vision of how the Offense is supposed to look like.

6.12 =/= 6.05 (which is what he tweeted)

He restated those were YPC + YPR if anyone bothered to read the comments.

McKinnon is a top notch 3rd down back. What happens in 3rd and short and on the goalline? The Patriots definitely missed Blount this year and New England was able to lockdown that vaunted Falcons run game in the 2nd half of the SB to the point where Shanahan became hesitant in running it when he really should have.

Historically the main weakness of the Shanahan ZBS is short yardage and goalline situations where the field shrinks. Right now they don't have a single back I feel confident in being able to power through and get those tough yards inside.

FWIW McKinnon doesn't qualify for that stat above...it's says need a minimum of 400 attempts since 2015 which he doesn't have
Let's illustrate how stupid this is:

John Doe is a running back. He has 50 yards for 150 yards. 3.0 yards per rush.
John Doe also has 2 catches for 80 yards. 40.0 yards per catch.

John Doe, according to mathematician Rob Lowder, averages 21.5 yards per touch.
