So in this scenario, does his pro bowl center sustain an injury, does 8 of his 11 or so runs fail to get back to the LOS and is his defense s**tting up yards at almost a 600 yard pace? Oh and does his pro bowl Qb having an all time season take a ridiculously bad sack? All of these factors had a had in the playcalling down the stretch in that SB.

I think a major issue is that New England took away the outside zone and forced them inside. What I'd like to see is a more well rounded RB that you can trust to take it inside and pick up those tough yards.

Right now you have three of the exact same back types. Its going to be disappointing if that isn't addressed via the draft b at some point in time I can see it coming back to bite this team.

I agree with this. They need a bigger back. I was looking back at Kyle's OC days and Alfred Morris is really the only big back (220 Lbs) he's had. He had 1600 yards in '12 but that was also the pistol/read option in fused RGIII year.

You calling yourself out CC

why should i have a different approach to cc the poster as compared to 98 per cent of this board?!

Be the change you want to see ...

99%
Younger fans here are used to the "bell cow" approach to RB after 12 years of Gore and Hyde. That's not Shanahan's game. His RBs are much more comittee/role players.

4th highest paid RB in the league. Terrible.

We heard you the 1st 3 times you said this lol. Go look at what the Vikings ran (inside zone/power) is that McKinnon's game? Nope is that Murray's game? Yes.

You'll be singing a different tune this yr watching him line up vs LBers and roasting them...don't care how he gets yards but he will.

All you people thinking you're smarter than shanahan regarding football

I think that was Deion's number when we won the number #5 Lombardi.
Here's another fun one.

I have to ask, is McKinnon a better fit than Dion Lewis? Lewis had better numbers as a runner 5.0 vs 3.9 Can catch the ball out of the backfield (although McKinnon wins the yds per catch 8.9 vs. 6.7), and can pass protect. I don't mind the pick up, but I think we overpaid on this one. Lewis came cheaper, could have upped the ante and still pay less for a proven back 4/23M vs 4/32M. McKinnon is 2 years younger. 25 vs 27(?).

Pretty simple get rid of Williams (or trade him) and pickup a in-between the tackle runner...this draft is full of them...I don't see many RBs that have Mckinnon's Skill set though.

McKinnon/rookie and bredia there it is

When did Williams become RB1?

He hasn't yet but he will. I saw him play in college a few times against good competition; runs a lot like new back Jerick McKinnon. Also he did not "quit" on his team in college. Very complex and understandable situation involving death of younger sister. After being at Utah for a year he retired from playing football to focus on other aspects of his life. He would quickly return on October 22, 2016 when he set the school record for rushing yards in a single game with 332 against UCLA. In the 2016 Foster Farms Bowl against Indiana, Williams took home the Offensive MVP after finishing with 222 rush yards, 1 rushing TD, and 56 receiving yards. In 2016, Williams rushed for 1,407 yards and ten rushing touchdowns in just nine games.

Did make some dumb mistakes earlier in college but does not have the pattern of intractable and incurable personality disorders like Aldon Smith and Reuben Foster. University of Utah is not a place that coddles miscreants like Alabama and Missouri.

Also ran a 4.41. Did fumble in college but tremendous upside to add to good depth at RB for little money.

No offense but I respectfully disagree with you. He did not show anything last year and his roster spot was in jeapordy before they put him on ir.

Arian Foster wasn't a big back but he had the power to fight inside as well. You don't need a massive back, just someone that can keep the wheels moving.

My worry is that this precludes them from dipping into an amazing draft class of RBs loaded with complete, 3 down RBs who can get you yards inside and outside.

If their plan is to still go RB somewhat early and move on from Williams then I am down.
