McKinnon/rookie and bredia there it is
If they did that and picked up a guy like Freeman. I am down.
That's basically where I'm at...I think shanahan teams have just about drafted a RB every yr

Anyhow, here's my concern with McKinnon. Look at his numbers compared to his backfield partners the last two years.

SPARQ is nice and all, but the sport is football, not combine. Nothing in these numbers or his career numbers, suggests an explosive player.
Pretty much were I'm at. I see him as a downgrade but in Kyle I trust

I remember most on this forum swore by baalke
Please example how SF has had a poor off season? They extended a couple players that helped this team (to team-friendly contracts) they gave jimmy G a big contract that actually gives the team a ton of flexibility down the road, the got Sherman for pennies compared to the rest of these FA CB, they signed the best center in FA, and now have a great pass-catching COP back that can play all over the field.
No kool-aid to be had...those are facts
I agree. Free agency is shaping up to be what NCommand predicted it to be weeks ago.

What this really makes you wonder is why is the Vikings offensive line this bad at run blocking??? When your RB's are that close in Y/A that's not just similar ability, that's consistency in the OL one way or the other. In that way, it's consistently not good. Case Keenum deserves more credit. Good grief. No wonder DEN picked him up.

Shanahan will use Jet McKinnon everywhere. He will be half RB and half WR. He will be worth the price tag. https://t.co/tNGX5GIPXE

Yes, the statistic didn't pass the smell test (I knew McKinnon averaged like 3.8 YPR last season) so I did some quick research:
Rushing:
150 carries, 570 yards (3.8 YPA)
Receiving:
51 receptions, 421 yards (8.3 YPA)
Kick returns:
12 returns, 312 yards (12.0 Y/R)
Rushing + receiving:
201 touches, 991 yards (4.9 yards/touch)
Rushing + receiving + kick returns:
213 touches, 1303 yards (6.12 yards/touch)
6.12 =/= 6.05 (which is what he tweeted)
He restated those were YPC + YPR if anyone bothered to read the comments.
John Doe also has 2 catches for 80 yards. 40.0 yards per catch.
John Doe, according to mathematician Rob Lowder, averages 21.5 yards per touch.
Did he pass 6th grade math?
OMG, I cannot believe people are spending this much time in debating this ... LOLOLOL. It's not what he has done, but what he is capable and will do that is important. I think I will trust the football brain trust on this one, thank you. Didnt know there was going to be a test .. d'oh.

Dalvin Cook averaged 4.8 on 74 carries.
Only thing I know at this point is that Kyle gets his RB's in wide open space on passing plays.

And the ol' "you think you're smarter than the GM argument." is just about the weakest argument anyone can come up with in sports.
I guess Bill Barnwell doesn't know anything about football then.
"You think you're smarter than Hue Jackson?"... Well...
Three tenets of success in the modern NFL:
1) Don't overpay your QB (SB finalists average around 11% of cap hit)
2) Don't overpay at RB
3) Get pass rushers.
49ers haven't done any of these things.
Sure I hope it works out, we all do. But this is the second offseason in a row with some questionable overpayments for marginal players.
Have people forgotten the team started 0-10 last year? One good trade doesn't excuse a number of poor decisions.
Don't overpay your QB? Say what?
New England, New Orleans, Pittsburg and pretty much every other team in the history of football wins games dependant on their QB play.
It's Lynn's fault he inherited a team void of talent and rebuilt it in a year?? Good Lord. Some people on here.
You might want to take a look at Brady's contract. I think he makes less than Mckinnon.

The elder did as well. They draft guys every year in the later rounds I like it because you can not lose out on helping other positions and at least once every handful of years you're going to have a home-run with it.

All this move does is say bye bye Matt Breida.

What am I looking at here? All their YPC is practically the same....either they all are awful, the OL is complete s**t, or their play-caller blows.

I doubt that. Breid a showed his worth and you need multiple RB's and if they both have similar skill sets and can catch the ball it puts a ton of stress on a defense. You can't assume when one guy is in they won't do "X" or they will do "Y".
