Murray and McKinnon had similar numbers on the ground and it looks like Cook came in as relief. Point is there wasn't much of a drop off from Murray to McKinnon in the run game, if they were running the ZBS. Now Alex Boone running the ZBS in Minnesota is Bass-Ackwards to me and bringing in Pat Shurmer but retaining mr. Power run Tony Sparano to coach the O-Line is another Bass-Ackwards move in my opinion. Why shift to the ZBS and use a Power run coach - to teach it? I think Kyle can see a good back that can fit his system and was misused in Minessota, and saw a chance and got him. I'm liking this move more and more.

Dude please don't act knowledgeable when you think Cook came in as relief

What about the change in scheme and the Bass-Ackwards coaching?

Always good to hear sus's take.

just dropping my opinion like everyone else here.
I been complaining about the lack of screen plays ever since JH took over. This dude should really fix that. I wonder how much this cuts back Brieda. I mean they are basically the same guy.
This guy is a leader and going to be a great fit for this team. Brick by brick.

And the ol' "you think you're smarter than the coach argument." is just about the weakest argument anyone can come up with in sports.

This is what you think, really? Especially when the coach in question was the architect of one of the most prolific offenses in NFL history only two years ago. Yeah, I think he is smarter than you and any one of us.

And that coach thought Joe Williams would be a stud and spent 4th re pick and also drafted Beathard 3rd round... both wayyy overdrafted...

So yeah... hate when people defend argument with coach knows better and maarthe is a boss

Book is not written on Williams or Beathard, but whatever props up your narrative. I will still trust Shanahan and Lynch, Peters and Mayhew evals more than Van man and E man ... lol. Enjoy your misery though, as I am done with the debate until we see how this comes together.

This.
Majority of analysts like to write on what teams do and if it was a good move, its their job. At the same time they mostly also said that teams tend to overspend at the beginning of FA, many times it ends up being fools gold. With that said, just look around the league, even with all pros, these players end up being cut or traded midway through their contracts and teams take a cap hit in dead money.

Many times people like brand names-but it don't fit with their scheme.

Younger version of Dion Lewis, worse in pass pro, but much faster after the catch and in space. He is an ok to solid runner in the trenches with room to grow but already a very, very dangerous weapon in the screen game. Seems to fit very well with what we are trying to build. I am still a little concerned about how we will run between the tackles but great blocking and coaching could go a long way towards his issues with seeing the best gap. If we are platooning him the Williams and Breida I also have concerns about short yardage as none of them are particularly bruising runners. We could lean on Juice or sign a vet to play the Lagarette Blount role ala Philly last year and stash Mostert on IR or something. Maybe a Frank Gore retirement tour? Would love to see him get 4th all time wearing the proper jersey and he still has the power and vision to get you that 2 yards and a could of dust.

Huge fan of Gore, and would love him to come back, always wanted him over Hyde, but I doubt he comes to be just a short yardage back!!! Hope I'm wrong

I'm a Gore fan, and I hate what he did to Baalke, Baalke was always looking for that ALL ACL player like Gore. Having said that, I like what you said above. I think McKinnon can get better in between tackles, he's not a Marshall Faulk, but he has similar size and possibly the same skill set. I don't think *The Greatest Show on Turf* had any back bigger than 220 LB, and they did ok. Key is having that defense. As much as I love this hire, it's defense that wins championships.

Too early to tell if it is a bad signing - let the kid play and prove all the critics wrong.
He reminds me of a potential

Decent little 3rd down back not really much of an upgrade over hyde. Still gonna need to draft another RB.

I think he'll be great in Shanahan's system and be a lot better than Hyde in the passing game.

Our new #21
I think that was Deion's number when we won the number #5 Lombardi.
if Jmack wears 21..probably turn into he best 49er to have worn it
I think Eric Wright wore that number too! Deion was a nobody before he won a super bowl with us! Gore is special. I think if the trend continues, and *Jet* wears 21, my hope is he becomes a Hall of Famer like Deion did after he came here.
