Generally speaking, this is correct, However, in this case, we overpaid. Period.

So are you saying you're smarter than Paraag?

Nope. Not even close.

It has already been reported we got into a bidding war with the Jets.

Paraag does not have final say on who we sign. If Lynch and Shanny tell him to sign someone, he does it, He just tries to do it in the bets way possible. Im not Criticising Marathe. Im sure he got the best deal for the club he could. Im criticizing getting into a bidding war and overpaying for a third down back.

Like i said, i love Juice, but there are mot many people out there that would argue it prudent to sign a Fullback to the highest FB contract in the league.

I just see bigger areas of need where we could have over spent if we wanted to overspend.

Again, i like the other moves besides Dumervil cut, but any time someone even slightly criticizes a contract over here, the faithful come wiht the pitchfork and torch mobs. The homers are worse than the guys that are negative about everything. Either agree 100%, of have your fanhood questioned.
we didn't overpay. or have to out bid
2nd highest paid RB next year lol

He got his money upfront, if he plays well then he's cheap in 2019 ($4.5 million cap hit) what in the world did you think he would get paid? This is 2018 and the cap space is at $178 million lol. I don't care if his a 3rd down back or whatever you're trying to say, he's gonna get yards thru the air on and on the ground.

He got paid more than Hyde and Lewis.

He has shown nothing in his career to show he is more than a high end third down back.

I get he is a system fit, but they overpaid. Period. Just as they did for Juice.

Yep still waiting for Juice to turn into that "OW"

Juice was far more productive once Jimmy took over.

Yep....juice was tied for second in catches for the 5 games with Jimmy G. I want to say he was on a 50+ rec pace with Garoppolo. That's pretty good for a FB in today's landscape.

I like him, but damn, that's a lot of money. Sony Michel will probably be more productive and way cheaper.

What about the next?

Like I said what the hell did you think he's worth then? Apparently SF wasn't the only team after him and Lewis is 3 yrs older and constantly injured...IF teams thought Hyde was worth more there would have been a market for him, there wasn't.

What do you think Kyle and Co. just walked up to McKinnon and said here take as much money as you want? LOL no man there was a market for him.

SF got him more than likely because they gave him a good upfront paycheck (with nothing much after this yr unless he balls out) and he wanted to play in this scheme.

I'm completely fine giving him most of his money this yr when we have a s**t ton of cash ($54 million) after this.

I dont think it prudent to get into a bidding war with the Jets to begin with, in order to secure a third down back. YMMV.

I dont think his #'s will magically increase because of Shanny. I think they will increase with a QB like Jimmy, but i dont think his talent is that to where i would have even chased him in FA.

I think Shanny can and has gotten more out of Rookies in the past, and feel this money would have been better spent over paying for positions of need that are harder to hit on in the draft. RB is the easiest position to scout coming out of college.

Regardless of anything and everything being written here, including how we use him and how productive he becomes in the future - we heavily overpaid on this contract. I'm really surprised. Paraag is a stud and Kyle knows what he wants.. but it's essentially a 2 year/ 16mil contract aka top 5 RB money for a very much unproven runner (570 yards, 3.8ypa) and a solid - but definitely not All-Pro caliber - backfield receiving threat.

I'm a huge optimist and i'm still really disappointed in the contract. At the end of the day - there's a difference between a bad deal during free agency and bad value once he puts on the pads for us. Hopefully he shows he can be a top 5 RB this year.. which he just hasn't done before.

If they can add Bryce Butler to the offense then ill be excited for next season for sure...

Eveything i have seen says we got into a bidding war with the Jets.

The contract clearly shows we overpaid.

it came out this morning that McKinnon had the same offer with the Jets, and he chose the 49ers
I like him but that seems like a lot of money

Oh well, pass protect and keep catching passes and IDGAF

There is a list a dozen guys deep of RB's that would be available in the 2nd-4th rounds. Many of which will have more productive careers than Mckinnon.

$11.9 million for this season is an overpay any way you slice it. Only dude making more money than him most likely is going to be Bell who has 5x his production.
