we have a need for pass rush/cb/wr! someone who can play right away!
Why? Because Trent Brown is garbage! And waste of talent. I question his desire and will. He doesn't work and is a fat slob and doesn't work at all and uncoachable. Good riddance And I think Lynch is thinking the same.

No. Kyle said he'd compete at RT.
Ah, I thought I heard Robinson or Fitz said he could on KNBR.
KNBR had both John and Kyle on and while he could play inside, he'll compete at RT.

9. Mike McGlinchey, T, San Francisco 49ers
He is a flat-backed pile driver in the run game. He's got the work ethic and passion of his cousin Matt Ryan. Heavy hands. When he gets his hands locked on you and anchored down, it's over.
I'm not sure if he can play on the left side, he does have the talent and work ethic to be a premier level right tackle in the NFL IMO.
I think he can be an elite RT who can shift over to LT as needed. The question I have is this.... if we dont trade Brown can MM shift inside for a year and play guard?

McGlinchey breakdown by Brandon Thorn who does a great job evaluating OL.
https://www.ndtscouting.com/thorn-2018-nfl-draft-ol-rankings/
1. Mike McGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame
Standout Traits – Run-Blocking, Pad Level, Hand Usage, Competitive Toughness, Mental Processing
Biggest Question Mark – Range in Pass-Protection (ability to hit set points at various depths), Anchor
McGlinchey demonstrates a high level understanding of the nuances of playing offensive line. From playing with very good pad level and leverage for a player with a 6-8 frame, he is adept at getting his hips underneath and behind blocks, uncoiling, and rooting out 1st level DL in the power run game with elite hand usage and very good length.
McGlinchey is a very cerebral player with very good mental processing. This mostly translates into quickly keying/passing off line games and stunts in pass-protection, and smoothly working combo blocks to the 2nd level, but it is everywhere on his tape and he very rarely makes an incorrect or delayed decision.
His competitive fire is always burning, evident by his relentless effort on a snap to snap basis, taking obvious pride in his craft. My only question is about his range in pass-protection, and his ability to win the half-man relationship without help vs. elite speed-rushers off the edge.
This is a question I have about the vast majority of NFL tackles too, but most get some help throughout games, especially if they are not one of the few truly elite guys (Tyron Smith, Trent Williams, Jason Peters, David Bakhtiari) so I'm not overly concerned.
Most pass-pro reps he wins by being extremely efficient out of his stance

He's a lean 6-8...I have my doubts...

I don't dislike the pick though I yawned out loud after it happened (YOL)
On another note "Browns gonna Browns"

He has potential to be better than Staley in a couple years. He'll start at RT until then. Day 1 starter.

One of the best comparisons that I've seen for McGlinchey is Nate Solder. They were fairly similar as prospects coming out of college, both super tall, lanky guys with good athleticism, both former TE's who excelled on the move. I think ultimately that is McGlinchey's effective ceiling.

Not a bad mock at all.
This was a shock to me
. I thought we were good at OT. I thought Trent Brown did very well. (Presumably Brown will be the odd man out.) But hey, in trust Shanny and Lynch I trust
.

We got the best OT in the draft. No one can logically argue thats not worth #9, as i have been saying for days now.
Its not the flashy pick, and i dont like everyone and their moms knowing we were going to pick him (our HC best friend mocked him to us FFS), but i cant argue with the value in getting the best T in the draft at #9.
