Nobody likes using a 1st round pick on a lineman. Nobody. Until they watch that lineman absolutely collapse one side of a defensive line, allowing a RB to sprint untouched for an 80-yard TD.
Then and only then do they love the guy.
Then and only then do they love the guy.

McGlinchey is an immediate starter. Trent Brown is done. He's either getting traded or will be the swing tackle this season.
My point is he's going to battle trip Brown let's say he wins the battle. That was still the the smallest impact we could have made with the first round pick. I understand what the line means to a team. I understand you went in the trenches. But Trent Brown is an elite tackle. You can disagree with me and Von Miller. and maybe he is an upgrade but you could have got a lot better.

It's not the sexiest pick, but we know games are won in the trenches. We need to shore up for the future and protect The Prodigal Son, Jimmy.

I don't mind a first-round pick on the lineman when it's necessary. This year it was not

Like I said if we get value for Trent Brown. Actually what he's worth which is the second or third round pick then I'm not tripping. But we made the least impact as of day one this year that we could have made in the first round

Kyle disagrees. Brown is a very good pass blocker, he can't hack it as a run blocker in this offense. Having Brown out there is telling teams that you don't give a crap about running the football to the right. Go look what the YPC was when running right versus running to the left. Huge discrepancy.
McGlinchey at right tackle means you can run the entire offense the way Kyle wants it. That is huge.

I don't think anybody can argue with me on this one. If we only had the first round day one this season we didn't upgrade our team with that first round pick. If we did it was only a little

I wonder how we handle Trent Brown. Cut or trade?

Cutting a guy who can get a second or third round pick would be pretty stupid

Just to clarify I never said dude wasn't a beast. I'm saying there's probably 10 other guys that could have made a bigger impact

Seeing as how the 49ers made tackle a priority with how many they met with in the pre-draft process, its clear that they saw it as a far bigger issue than you did.
