Definitely need to move on from him. He had some horrible misses especially on 3rd downs that were huge part of struggles throughout the season.
What are the other RT free agents this year? I can't imagine all of them are worst than MM at pass-blocking. Really hoping 49ers have down their scouting work and acquire a young talented FA (like C Ward last year) that can improve this year in our scheme. Definitely need to spend some draft capital here too.

McGlinchey is by a good measure, the best RT FA this year. Our only realistic option is Colton McKivitz.

We could also just leave the RT spot empty. It would be the same as having MM there.

I'd be for investing some serious draft capital in shoring up our tackle position, either by trade or by picking heavily for the position and seeing how things shape out in camp. Signing McG for big money or relying on McKivitz both seem like poor options.

We will soon find out what the staff thinks of McKivitz. We need depth at DT, S, and RT. If none of our three 3d round picks are an OT, then we will know the staff thinks McKivitz is the guy. OTOH, if we spends $15M/yr to resign MM, we will know the other Mc is not the guy.

Of course, with Silverback getting more silver every year, we may just keep on stockpiling OTs in the hope we get his replacement. So there is that.

I would have zero issue with the FO signing a FA safety and drafting nothing but O lineman and DT's.

Let other teams have him and then watch Bosa rag doll him. Hopefully he goes to Seattle or Arizona.

Remember Erik Pears? Kwame Harris? Those were bad tackles. MM has some very bad and obvious whiffs, but it isn't every play or even close. Just very inconsistent.

MM reminds me of Kwame Harris.

Oh my goodness, no. McG is ranked as 11th best RT and if you look at FA, he is the best OT out there. Saying we want to replace him overlooks the fact he is the best OT available on R side. I sure agree with drafting 3 or 4 OTs and bringing in a couple more OTs in FA…but we aren't going to magically get a FA better than McG because there isn't one.

Once again , our scouts and F.O are going to have to save our bacon in later rds, as they have done for some yrs now.

what i really wish for is for us to find a rugby guy like Mailton and bring him in as our foreign exchange guy.

Yup.
The major point is that MM won't come cheap. Do they want to tie up that kind of money? My take is no.

My take is that Lynch will make an offer and see where it goes from there. If they can sign him for $10M/yr, for 3 years, he will stay. OR, if they really feel McKivitz is ready, they will make a mid-range offer and leave it at that.
I can't believe Mike McGlinchey is a better first rounder than Solomon Thomas, Reuben Foster, and Javon Kinlaw....

This guy gives up sacks & pressures at the most critical times in the game get rid of him
Can't wait to see some idiotic team overpay for this turnstile

Of course he is. He has some weaknesses but there you are. Count the starts. Thomas and Foster, for different reasons, were hopeless. Kinlaw remains a wip.
