He;s going to end up being a fan favorite, watch.

I think, Pettis is the top 15 for 1st round. . Golden Tate is compared to him.

Having Pettis and McKinnon on the field at the same time, in a Shanahan offense, is going to be a matchup nightmare for many opponents.

Only way Pettis doesn't get on the field -- and maybe as a starter -- is if none of the starters get injured. What are the chances of that?

He's going to take Taylors job year one...who knows what happens after that.

I see him more battling Garçon or marquis. Taylor pretty much locked up the slot
Just handed Marquise a contract extension after nearly hitting 1,000 yards, Garcon is making $9 million and was a top 5 WR in this league before his injury playing with Hoyer and CJ. I'm pretty confident that it's Taylor who's going to lose his role as a starter.

Money doesn't drive Shanahans chess moves

Nope. He plays different positions

Z - Pierre Garcon / Dante Pettis
X - Marquise Goodwin / Richie James
Slot - Trent Taylor

Bench

Kendrick Bourne
Aldrick Robinson

You gotta stop with this obsession of getting Taylor off the team.

Pettis spent most of his time in college on the outside, his vertical abilities will put him on the outside in the NFL as well. I expect him to be used all over the field and then to take over for Garcon in a year.

Who said anything about getting rid of him? He's a chess piece, a limited one that should excel at his role as a 4th receiver on 3rd down in short to middle depth.
I agree with those that say he will be Garcons eventual replacement

Everyone just latched onto the slot roll because Mayock was talking out his ass like i said on the first couple pages.

HOWEVER, his best chance at playing any significant time outside of PR this season is going to be in the Slot.

My only argument is i dont know if it was a need or the highest value for our team at the time. But like i have said, i really like the player.

Taylor is a BAM. A move the chains machine on 3rd down, little dude that takes massive hits and bounces right back up, he's only going to be better this year.

But muh draft board?

Taylor is a solid slot, but it seems like you may be giving him the Vance McDonald overrate treatment. I don't think Taylor will get much better. He has a role and i think it's different than Pettis' role

Pettis is not a damn slot WR. Mayock was wrong on that. I've seen him play a lot of college ball. He rarely played in the slot. I agree that he'll take over for Garçon in a year. I think he's going to be good...

Yeah he replaces garcon imo. Not taylor.

Taylor has terrific quickness, runs clean routes and gets open. In a Shanahan offense that will get you play. That he made so many big catches on 3rd down means his role is pretty secure unless he regresses or starts having some major injury issues.

Stuff like this is so funny. This is why fans need to stop with the "we didn't need to select him that high!" nonsense. First it started with McGlinchey and soon after we see that Oakland clearly wanted him at #10. Now we also see that Pettis had no chance in hell of falling to #59.
