Pettis (6-0, 186) was productive as a wide receiver during his four seasons at Washington, totaling 163 catches for 2,256 yards and 24 touchdowns. As a junior in 2016, Pettis caught 53 passes for 822 yards and 15 touchdowns, then followed up that performance with 63 catches for 761 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior. Pettis also shined as a return specialist, returning 90 punts for 1,274 yards (14.2 average) with an NCAA-record nine total touchdowns in four seasons.
"Over his final three years at Washington, Pettis returned 8 of his 63 punt return attempts (12.7%) for TDs," tweeted Jeff Deeney of Pro Football Focus. "That's ridiculous."
An ankle injury kept Pettis out of the NFL Scouting Combine as well as his school's Pro Day on March 10, but on April 2 he held his own Pro Day workout, where he ran a 4.48-second 49-yard dash and posted a 36-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot-5-inch broad jump, and 11 bench press reps at 225 pounds.
