Where did the 15 TDs come from the year before with a better team and QB play?Originally posted by GMniner805:Originally posted by NYniner85:Originally posted by GMniner805:Timed by who his coach? He hasn't run an official 40. That's why the scouts question his long speed.
Lol show me issues with speed on tape then? Kid ran track in HS and competed in California states in the 200 meter and long jump.
You don't become as decorated as a returner as he is by being slow.
.@49ers #DantePettis has the one ingredient Kyle Shanahan covers most: SPEED. #BaldyBreakdowns pic.twitter.com/87uXjQqj7c

Speed isn't a issue try again
Scouts words not mine, Baldinger makes himself look stupid "great production" 6 of 7 tds came against Fresno st/Oregon st. Theres definitely a legit concern with production against quality opponents.

I've see plently of scouts say he's got speed as well.
Better qb & better scheme helps as well. Gonna have to wait and see before we call it a good or bad pick. I think he has the tools to be a very good WR here. I've thrown out the stefon diggs comp and I think that's a good comp and what he could do in this league.

Like Maddog says trading up for Pettis is going to haunt the 49ers for sometime.
Potential 2nd blemish on Shanahans player evaluation.

I wanted to see him play for another yr and develop a tackle like O'Neil ESPECIALLY with who was on the board when we were drafting. They improved run blocking but not pass pro on the right side.
I said he was an elite pass blocking tackle which will be protecting the top qb in football next yr...don't words in my mouth k thanks.
Brown was a good pass blocker but he had trouble staying in shape and healthy. Overall McGlinchy is an upgrade over Brown

If Pettis plays well no one will give a crap. Just the reality of the situation.

Can you imagine this board had the 9ers traded up for a small school wr from Mississippi who didn't run a great 40 in the first.
"We could've stayed at 28 and got him. Vance Johnson would've been better value"

How do you know that no trade-up was necessary?

Mike Mayock calling Dante Pettis a slot-only WR, but ran just 13.7 percent of his routes and saw just 12.6 percent of his targets from the slot at Washington.

Or when he was drafted by the Eagles they got a steal. Too hung up about draft position and not about production. And as much as I love MadDog he's been wrong - a LOT. And that's the nature of the process.
2 best QBs of all time were complete misses. Just an FYI.

1. Dante Pettis—Lacks elite size and won't be the fastest of the group but he's the best route-runner in this class. He makes DBs look foolish on a regular basis and that skill translates to the NFL. Also has great hands. And return skills are an added bonus

That much of an upgrade to spend a top 10 pick? We will see, I hope better qb play can help with the pass pro issues.
Like I've stated I've warmed up to it and moving Brown made it right. Hope he balls out
