It's not real. The broadcaster mixed up him with Deebo who did have to work extra hard to trim down. BUT, the commentator did say Pettis was in Kyle's doghouse big time.

maybe pettis just assumed he would be the big dog or cat. then we drafted two kids and deebo has earned a spot and is out playing him,,, and he can not take it mentally.. could be that simple.. it is looking more and more like nc was right all along about pettis. when taylor and hurd come back. then the screws really tighten up on pettis

Unfortunately I agree with you.

JJ Stokes was a team guy too.

To put it into dog house perspective, he's had 37 total snaps of the 139. Only Skule, T.Coleman, Dwelley, Wilson and Garland have less and Skule and Wilson might pass him up next game if this pace continues.
In the last game, one reporter said Pettis had more snap counts than Deebo, he also broke it down by runs and passes. That number you put up their is skewed by the first game which Kyle wanted to limit him because he just getting back from injury, but did not realize his snap count was limited to only 2 (?) in the first game.

What is more important is how many times Jimmy G target him. Deebo is known for his precise route running, Pettis is not, and his unusual running may be what is throwing Jimmy off. It is also why Taylor is a favorite of Jimmy's when all are healthy, slower compared to the others, but he will be where Jimmy expects him to be.

I'm pretty confused to because Pettis definitely produced when he was given the chance last year so I just don't understand why they're not giving him more snaps
he was in for two snaps in the Tampa game and caught one for yards...
more then some of the players have done.

His production at the end of the season last year was with Mullens. Chemistry matters between QB and WR. Not matter how Kyle designs the play, in the end, it is Jimmy who is making the decision on where and who to go to. This is where leadership of a QB comes to play, talking to his player and what he expects and what he sees and need Pettis to do or why he hasn't gone to Pettis, so that he can work on that.
At this point, to get Pettis going, maybe they should make him field punts full time. Our punt return is so far lacking and that was once his forte.

The sophomore slump is real. But JFC he played well at the end of last year and has been open plenty of times this season but just not targeted. Obviously we want the stats to go with it but I guess we should of canned Witherspoon too or Moore for giving up TDs playing out of position or Armstead who has become solid or Jeff Wilson with his fumbleitis or Richburg for playing sub par with injuries or our guards who seemed below average even though they are killing it this year , just throw in the entire O-line after the Denver preseason game or Richie James for not having a rookie impact. F*ck it should of scrapped the whole team last year and started fresh.

This culture of immediate gratification is hilarious, we couldn't even field a complete team if the half the zone had its way but at least we would have Demontre.

Some players start off gang busters, others suffer slumps in the 2nd season, others start off slow due to injuries, or in previous years missing camp due to the old college academic rules or because of complications of the position. Players need to be developed. If after their rookie contract, they pan out resign, if not let them go, but I agree with you. I call it the microwave generation.

Coaches see more than we do, not just with their own players but others too, they are also more privy to things information wise, not to mention whether player fits scheme wise.
Sounds like the groin injury getting better for him. And sounds like he's the emergency qb.

Tighten up the release like those shorts Dante
what's going on with this guy?? is he just not performing in practice?? or did Debo just take all his PT?? he can at least be our return man.. he's terrific at that.. maybe that will give him confidence if that's the problem with him

He lost out to Deebo at the X and lost the punt return job to James. His best chance to carve out a role now is the Z which in many ways, relegates him to a run blocking WR and surprisingly, he's done a pretty good job of that. He basically can steal Bourne's role from last year...until Hurd steals it from him eventually

If she doesn't do s**t this week I say it's time to pull the plug on this failed experiment and trade him while she has some sort of value.

...yeah.

The answer to all things on the webzone. Cut him, trade him...

This is still the same kid who put up some of the best rookie WR numbers on this team in a damn long time but let's trade him.

Same people were saying to cut/trade Armstead, Blair...etc. Pettis is a young guy in his second season still working through some stuff. Way too early to cut bait on a guy with that much talent.

3rd year is always the make or break season.
kitty kat needs a little more time to evolve into a Tom Cat, then he be ballin out

Guess it's a good problem to have but we have Goodwin, Deebo, Hurd, Taylor, Borne, James and Pettis. Hard to find PT when you are in the doghouse. I also say trade firm for an OL prospect.
