Better to be a fan who roots for players, than one who constantly tears them down. People like you would've wanted to run Montana out of the league because of his first year stats. You be your pessimistic self and I'll be my optimistic self.

People can have different opinions and that's okay.
I don't see the 9ers wanting to trade Pettis unless the offer was too good to pass up, at a minimum a 3rd rounder... I don't think Kyle is ready to fold on Pettis just yet

It's a good balance. But I have no personal narrative here other than following the evidence to this point in time and not dismissing the possibility of where this could go (not being willing to accept that is the 'blind' part)...not just giving him the "give him more time" narrative simply because he's ours.

I never said that he wouldn't ever get cut, lol. Just that the idea of him being traded is ridiculous
Pettis has been in the dog house before the season started.

Shan was disappointed that he did not arrive in football shape. Ever since that, Shan has given him chances to redeem himself. But he hasn't done anything.

So to me it's no surprise he would be traded.

But reading he might put into a package deal? which makes me wonder what is it that they have in the works?

I don't know. With 2 of our receivers already on IR. Others banged up. Only played a year and a half. A trade seems a little unrealistic. Maybe another scare tactic from Shanny? But I was thrown off by Sanders trade. So anything is possible.

Yeah. It would most likely be for another receiver? Then again, with this run-centric offense and Staley, McGlinchey and Juice about to come back and with Sanders added to Kittle, not a ton more is needed from Deebo and Bourne. Who knows?

This has been a unexpected crazy year so far. In a good way. It's hard to rule anything out. But it's fun talking about it.

I mean you kinda created the personal narrative with the comments you've made about Pettis for a while now. That's not me saying you're wrong or anything just that there's a reason people are saying that to you.

It's officially day 50 of me having to tell people to have patience with these young players. He's got 11 career starts and people want to dump him or think he's actually a trade prospect? come on meow. Kid ha 17 targets this yr, kinda hard to put up awesome stats with SF not throwing the ball overall.

This isn't fantasy football, the front office and coaching staff have time/capital/money invested into him.

Dante is bound to have a breakout game. I predict it's going to be vs the Seahawks because after all he's from the area and wanted to be a Seahawk (according to his twitter followers).

He does have 212 yards 10 catches and 2 TDs in the 2 games he played them last yr.
Our passing game hasn't exactly been lighting the world on fire stats wise. Jimmy has yet to even have a 300 yard game, and has 3 games of under 200 yards. That and given that we spread the ball around a lot, and our TEs RBS are targeted as much as our WRs, there just aren't many balls to go around.

But Pettis is quick and get open. And remember that we are playing with our 3rd string OTs, so Kyle has to protect them and there is less down field stuff.

exactly! Overall kid has been getting open the game plan hasn't called for a ton of passing. I'm sure it will change at some pt.

Absolutely. Ideally, we retain Pettis and Sanders takes him under his wing like Staley with Skule and things start to click. This is Kyle's guy...hand picked. Kyle, John and Wes have devoted so much time and resources into him to give him every chance to succeed. I just hope Pettis really wants it and that lightbulb goes off and he just takes off. There's certainly no denying his ability!

I get it. Stating early concerns that have come true thus far sucks both ways. I get tagged with having a narrative against him and he's not shining. But I guess having a narrative is different to me...to me that means you aren't objective and have something for or against him before evidence supports a reason to have concerns or likes.

The funny thing here is, IMHO, this is more about ShanaLynch than anything. Going and getting Sanders validates your point about them moving from rebuild mode to compete now mode. Giving up 2nd-4th round drafts picks validates that. Depth validates that. Record validates that. The FO moving on quickly from players validates that. Willing to literally, pay for their mistakes in FA, validates that.

That's why I'm surprised with the your patience stance in the same token. Kyle might just be done with players like Pettis and Goodwin esp. now that he's got his man and he's worked with them every day they've been here.
