Garnett was in the doghouse and they let him stay on IR an entire year then sat around on the bench for another year before they decided to release him. Why didn't they cut him year 1 when his knee was bad? He wasn't even their guy.

If you don't have 49er DNA you can be cut anytime. With Pettis I think this might be the case

Yes, we do. We have guys on IR, and no one better. He's had 17 targets this year, until Sanders got here, he was the best wide receiver on the team. Now he is the second best wide receiver on the team, struggles or not. Nobody else has been burning it up in that squad. All you guys complaining about the receivers aren't even taking into account how few passing plays we have run this year. You all are just looking at stat lines and comparing them to guys who play on pass happy teams, and getting your panties twisted. Never mind the context of the situation. Kyle said it himself, with the defense we have, the best way for us to lose is to turn it over. We are not going to be one of those pass happy teams unless it becomes necessary, and it hasn't been, and we lead the league in time of possession...by design. It's called complimentary football, pretty basic stuff. Run the ball. play defense, win games. I don't know why anyone would willfully ignore one of the oldest, and proven tenets of the game.

We'd live.

If Kyle trades Pettis, and keeps Matthews I will be seriously pissed off. Matthews offers nothing, Pettis has long term upside, sure he isn't the biggest WR, but he's been good, I don't care about stats, his run blocking is good.
What if we trade Pettis and a 1st for OBJ, would you all be made still? Lol

Maybe its not a talent issue? If its an attitude problem, waiting doesnt change anything.

As I said before, Pettis plays like hes not interested at times. He has his ups and downs. There was like 1 game this season where he was going up for the ball. Other times it needs to be right in his bread basket for him to make a move on it at all.

Joe Williams had talent. How come we didnt give him 3 years? Because his attitude was s**t and his heart wasnt in it.

Personally, unless were getting a receiver back in a trade, Id rather keep him just for depth. But I also wouldnt be mad if we let him go. Richie James in his limited snaps has made some impressive plays when given the chance. KB is always an option.

Pettis hasnt even been good at his college specialty: Punt returns.

Going 6-0 changes things. Expectations are raised and the bar is set higher. If we were still another year way from competing, then I say yes, lets keep him to compete. Now that we are possible contenders, we need people that we can rely on to step up during the playoffs. We need to try to avoid this being like 2011 49ers run where we had a championship roster but were relying on receivers like Brett Swain, Mario Manningham, Braylon Edwards (and to lesser extend Crabtree) in the playoffs.

LOL. Matthews isn't active. Read people. Only 5 active on game days.

That's now Sanders, Deebo, Goodwin, James and Bourne. Add in Taylor and Hurd at some point.

Some how, some way we'd survive without Pettis. We'd live.
While Pettis has a couple moments when he's a "dog" after the ball (Steelers game), he mostly shows he's a kitty when going after the ball.

I imagine Cincinnati will want similar to what Denver got for AJ, and I'd say no, AJ hasn't played yet, and may not, would be a wasted trade, plus we can't afford to keep AJ and Sanders next year.

You keep harping on his snap count.

168 pass plays. 31st in attempts.
234 run plays. 1st in attempts.

So how many of his 231 snaps were runs VS pass plays? Have you looked at these plays on the all 22 or is that stat being thrown around in a vacuum with no context?
It just seems like they want to Pettis to be someone he isn't. He is a finesse receiver, who doesn't have the build like Deebo and Hurd.
We'd be just fine without him
