Will he become that player? Stay tuned...

Let's hope so. I do see him as a better fit for the slot...like Thomas inside. But at some point, one just realizes it's not going to happen. That comes at various times for various fans. When would be your moment?
he is been very underwhelming.. now goodwin is gone again for whatever reason so again... seems like the millionth time we have said this,,,, now pettis has a opportunity. it seems like he is unable or unwilling to seize opportunities that come his way.. maybe that is one reason he was in kyles doghouse.

Yeah, let's hope he makes good with this opportunity and becomes more consistent!
Now that Emmanuel is here, the pressure is off Pettis. He doesnt have to be WR 1. He can just make catches and not worry is he #1 or not. But we are also approaching half way mark in the season, and if Pettis wants to stay on a playoff bound team from here on out, today would be an excellent day to show his stuff.

He isn't carrying the weight...kittle is and now sanders. So if Pettis suddenly comes alive today it will say a lot about whether he really wants to stay with a contender... or not. If he is the guy making a catch in traffic on the goal line, fantastic. If he is a guy dropping the ball at midfield....well, draw your own conclusions.

But one way or the other, in a game we need WRs to make catches, well today is one of those days. We would all appreciate maximum effort and so will Kyle. I believe you are on Kyle's radar . Great time to show him what you can do. We've all been waiting.
So so soft.....
Honest question...I saw him fall down once. Made a catch but was at a bar...did he get his usual 55 snaps? And from where?

There is absolutely nothing special about this guy. In 2 years, he hasn't shown me anything. We got beat by Denver, like I said at the time, the WR of choice of that draft class was Cortland Sutton who is bigger, stronger and catch the ball way better than Pettis, period!! Currently, he ranks 199th in the league in terms of total receiving yards this year. Even Richie James has more yards than him!! In fact, Pettis is dead last in our WR corps.

and yet james does not get the playing time this guy gets. as i said.. no hurd. no taylor. no goodwin.. ok pettis. what are you going to do with this opportunity.. as things go along and he continues to underwhelm. his steelers catch will become as insignificant as jamie winborns one great game. the rats one great game. lawrence philips 90 yard touchdown run, and yes trent taylors 6 games two years ago

I honestly believe shanahan is saving face by giving Pettis so many chances.

James should be in far more than Pettis but alas kyle threw an entire season away thinking beathard was better than Mullens so this shouldn't surprise anyone.
This guys is not impactful at all.

Sanders
Deebo
Richie

Those are the best three and it's not close

IMO Pettis is a better run blocker, that's why he's in so much.

I still don't get people calling him soft, a bust, etc... Everyone said that about AA and Ward, and now they're balling. Can't write off a player 1.5 yrs into his career. He had 3 targets, 1 was a bad throw by Jimmy, he was overthrown by Jimmy, and the other he made the catch.

I think that just changed. Dramatically.

People don't get it that it's not all about stats/numbers.

What does FF have to do with his play? Are you saying hes a good receiver who just doesnt put up FF numbers? Is that the argument being made?

Absolutely nothing. So tired of people being condescending towards a poster who expects a WR to produce something. Dude was a 2nd round pick who was traded up for. Sorry if we want/expect more than good blocking.

I agree. Id also like to know if hes actually blocking well or not. I havent actually seen any clips of this. Not saying he doesnt, I just genuinely want to know.
