Yeah, ability has never been in question. He's got some elite traits. Unfortunately, the intrinsic traits will have him traded. Looooooong line of these kinds of players at the NFL level.

I know which coach will be the first one to believe he can use this kitty cat.

I hate it but it's true.

100% truth. Plus he never really left the UW anyhow and his g/f lives there. It's just too inevitable.

Give him a shot elsewhere, needs a fresh start

I am ready to trade Pettis too as he is clearly not a fit here....but can you please elaborate on the running the wrong routes and specifically the questionable hands part? Pettis has great hands. Am I not remembering drops that happened?

This is the definition of cooking DBs

You're entitled to your own opinion, but you're not entitled to your own facts. Pettis needs to go to an offense that pushes the ball down the field. That's why Seattle is a perfect fit. I envision he'll do a lot of this in that type of offense

Great post. Our coaching staff and a lot of posters in this thread should be embarrassed after watching these clips.....dude is talented.

I understand not making him a feature or even a number 2. But, they have completely shaded this dude and kept him off the field. Its unreal, and unexplainable.

I think it might have to do with two factors apart from Kyle just being weird. One, Jimmy just isn't that good at throwing accurate deep balls down the side line. Second, Pettis probably isn't a very good blocker. Kyle likes deception and wants to be able to run or throw with the same personnel. This is not what Pettis does.

Overall, him being traded is a really good thing for both parties. Pettis is too talented to rot behind guys like Kendrick "oops I dropped it again" Bourn, and the Niners could use the roster spot.

1. No one should be embarrassed except for Pettis. He had golden opportunities and blew them. It is clear he had a bad attitude to training and studying plays. This has been stated by Kyle over and over and more then enough opportunities have been given to Pettis to lift his game but he hasn't.

2. It is not unreal and unexplainable. It is Pettis not taking multiple hints to change his attitude and lift his game.

3. There you go bad mouthing Jimmy G again. You just cannot help yourself. Pettis was not at where he was meant to be and JG did not overthrow anything. What you do not understand, or turn a blind eye to, is that for long throws the QB has lead the ball to where the receiver is meant to be. IE he has to guess where the receiver is going to be a few seconds after he throws the ball. This is what they practice and JG leads by throwing the ball to the spot where the receiver was in practice for the play during the week. With Pettis not running his routes properly he does not get to where he is meant to be on time. Makes the QB look bad but the blame is on the receiver. The coaches know this. You obviously do not.

Didn't even read. I know it all comes back to your unwavering love of JG.

He's had a few, particularly on slants. He really hasn't gotten many in game opportunities lately so we can really only assume he hasn't been doing well in practice—which is still strange after all the glowing reports in camp just a couple months ago, but it is what it is at this point
Pettis has all the opportunities and didn't take them and run, he was beat out by Bourne who was I drafted. Taylor a 5th rd pick, James a 7th rd pick, would've been beat out by Hurd too, it's crazy to me bc we see the potential but he's just soft I guess, can't expect anything but a 6th in 2022 for him, I like the Ross for Pettis trade but the cap may prevent that, or even an Edge for him, Tyquan Lewis for pettis ?

Point #1 you nailed it. Pettis has only himself to blame. Lol this is not on the coaching staff at all. This is solely on the player. If he's not seeing the field then I'm quite sure he's not performing well enough in practice to merit PT.
JFC hold the player accountable. Who gives a fk what he did in college. Gotta look beyond the tape and really study the player's character.
From all the camps that I have been too and watched.. Pettis is your classic role player that doesn't want to put in that extra hard mental work. His body language was telling.
Fk even my brother in law who is a big time HS coach called it out last summer "Pettis doesn't seem like he wants to own it out here"
This is solely on a guy who may just have too much going on upstairs and it's cramping him on the field.
Anyone else find it strange that shanahan came out and said theyre taking calls for Pettis? They NEVER do this. This organization is so hush hush, you dont know anything until it happens. I dont think theyre getting what they want, and theyre trying to get more interest.

They did this before with Marquise Goodwin.

They're just putting the for sale sign out. Let's see what happens. Maybe he can go somewhere that can use him better. He doesn't fit our offense.
can't believe we moving on from Pettis, all the good ones get traded
