Had some time to go and watch a bit of video on him. The ACL thing is scary, it always is, but if he can come back we've got a good one. IMO we've only picked up Armstead's 5th year option as insurance for Street. All things equal and they're both fit and healthy Street will knock him down come 2019. Guy reads the play well, has good hands and can surprise with his speed off the mark. I like him a lot except for that ACL issue.

Looking back, this was probably my least favorite pick mostly cause of acl ptsd, but if he comes back to form we get a solid player for a long time. Not every player has superstar potential, you can't tell me raymac wasn't a key cog in our dominant defense back in the day?

Yeah, they're nothing alike.
Both injured, both played Dline, both are very strong, both taken by us. Yeah nothing alike
Lol I mean those are very broad parameters to be saying they're a like. Tank didn't move around like that at FSU.
That's like saying every big white WR is Jordy Nelson
I hope I'm wrong man, it's just these injured picks don't work out for us at all usually these past few years.

Oh I wasn't pumped about the pick at all...and I totally get why everyone is pissed PTSD from the Baalke days
I like the player just don't like that we have to wait a yr. IF we can get 3-4 starters out of this draft it will be a huge success. (McGlinchey, Warner, Pettis, Moore) anything after that is gravy especially day 3 picks.

I like this spin move...dude is pretty agile for a 280+ man
Spin move puts LT on the floor. Sack pic.twitter.com/WGnu2zh3hr

Have to say, that spin move footage also shows that the majority of his power is below the Tackle's hips... which is very good for balance and mismatches.
On the flip side, those legs have to be putting a LOT of strain on the ligament tissue. One hard, uncoordinated stop, that knee will be in a world of hurt... which is probably why he's recovering from a torn ACL.

The only pick I didn't love. The rest of the draft was $$$.
If you're going to take a mid-round flier on a talented dude w/health issues, swing for the fence and draft Sweat.
I guess we'll see what happens. Maybe Sweat busts out and Street ends up a solid contributor after his redshirt season. I was definitely scratching my head tho.
EDIT: especially confusing after they picked up AA's $9+ million option. I thought maybe Street was supposed to take AA's roster spot after he leaves next season, but apparently not.

Solid post.
This is from an SI article that placed him as the #3 freakiest player in the draft.
"Street is the Freakiest athlete on the ferocious Pack D-line, which is the best-kept secret in college football. "They're the tone-setters for the team," said strength coach Dantonio Burnette. "These guys are super competitive." Bradley Chubb (22 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks) gets most of what attention that group gets, and he's a freak in his own right, clocking a 4.74 40 at 275 pounds. But it's time to get the word out about Street. The Georgia native arrived in Raleigh already quite the specimen, but he's worked diligently over the past few years to fine-tune his body and his game (as you can seen from this photo sequence).
Last year, Street had nine tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks as he started to emerge as a difference-maker with his refined technique catching up to his uncanny athleticism. This spring Street, at 6'2", 283 pounds, was timed in the 40 at 4.58 and 4.62. And Burnette says those 40 times are electronic times—not hand-timed. Street vertical jumped 40 inches, broad jumped 9'11", cleaned 400 and bench pressed 475 pounds. He is the most flexible guy in the NC State program, and despite his weight, he has the kind of agility where he could stand up and play outside linebacker, says Burnette, himself a former first-team All-ACC linebacker.
Burnette has worked with some all-world caliber D-line Freaks in his time from Mario Williams and Manny Lawson to his days at Pittsburgh with Aaron Donald, a guy who ran 4.68 in the 40 and verticaled 32 inches while weighing 285 pounds at the combine. Donald, an NFL star, plays with a mean streak. He thrives in the NFL because he has such great get-off and is excellent using his hands. As explosive as Donald is, Burnette says Street is even more explosive. "He made a huge jump last year. He started to translate the stuff he's developed in the weight room over to the field, and I think he's really gonna have a great year." The coach describes a play from the Pack's bowl game against Vanderbilt in which Street tossed a 6'6", 315-pound starting offensive tackle in the air with one arm. That's the kind of rare explosive power that's been honed from all those heavy cleans in the weight room.
"These guys [Street and his D-linemates] make strength coaches look good." "

4.58 electronic 40 with that strength and agility...
Shows a picture of his body transforming and crazy thing is his upper body isn't even maxed out yet. This dude is gonna get absolutely yoked in his upper body while he recovers.

Kind of.
Tank is a bit longer and more explosive, but more raw coming out.
IMO Street has more violent hands and uses them better than Tank.

Street looks like he has that Justin Smith type stuff to him
We drafted Ray McDonald off of a torn ACL. Tank ended being a solid pick when everything was said and done, was casualty of having other personnel(AA/Thomas/Buck/etc) making him expendable.
So ACL DL picks haven't been bad at all imo Remember we also got Sheldon Day for free

Again, the only reason I hated this pick was because I'm so wary of drafting redshirt ACL players, not because of talent. If he can return to his old form after recovering, the pick has great potential, long-term. Without the injury, this is a rock solid pick. So I'm trying to see it through that lens as much as I can.
