Ok, who would play this year and why? Let's drop the hypotheticals, and tell me who is cracking the lineup and who are they beating out, and are they active on game day, and who isn't just because we drafted them at 128?

Dalton Schultz TE
Josh Sweat DE Edge

This is the long game, Sweat might be able to play a few years then he's toast.
Whats the plan with Street? Is he going to take over for AA if Armstead doesn't finally sustain a break out this year? Street is so strong I'm wondering if he couldn't play inside on the nose...

Yeah we're talking about a day 3 pick though...go look at some of the guys drafted after him before our next pick. Sweat was really the only other intriguing guy and he's got bone on bone knee issues. Kid might not even finish out his rookie contract (reason he dropped to the 4th) throw in film that wasn't amazing and eh..health is an issue for him as well.

I'm fine taking a upside long-term prospect in day 3. When you start throwing down top 64 picks on a ACL guy that's a little different.

Good point about day 3 picks. I remember Michael Carter, a 5th round pick, and he was in track and field. He was a shot putter. One of the most dominant NT's the 49ers has ever had. I'd have gone with a track and field star that had a football background (similar to the profile of a Michael Carter) as one option instead of an ACL/Achillies pick. Mike Golic was another DT/NT that was a collegate wrestler and played football. If you are talking day three picks, these are guys that I'd have considered before drafting a ACL/Achillies player.

He's going to sit, just like Lattimore did and Tank.

You can say that about literally any draft pick.

If he becomes a good player, it was a good pick.

Great. Thanks for putting yourself out there. Now all we can do will wait and see, if you were right or the coaches were.

PS. I wasn't a Sweat fan before I found out about his medical history, and definitely wasn't after. Also, I think Shultz would have a hard time beating out Kittle and a healthy Hikitini. He is a Stanford guy, so you gotta believe that the coaches and especially our GM, toook a long hard look at him, and they still decide to pass.

Well 13 different directions, I guess if you are talking a baker's dozen, so close enough!
This may be a bit odd, but I wonder if they think they can get some edge pass rush from Street. He's recovering from a knee, but supposedly he showed elite quickness along with the power. Maybe they'll ask him to get down to the 260lb range and see if they can put him at Leo.

What in the s**t has Dalton Schultz done in college? Sweat would have been a solid pick but if he's truly got bone on bone knee issues, then I'm fine if they pasted on him.

If Streets can turn into even a Vinny Curry like prospect in a yr I'm completely fine with it.

So I guess you wouldn't have taken gore in the 3rd? I think it depends on how many picks you have, who's available, what kind of draft it is, the type of player you're getting etc...not just he's got a torn ACL throw him in the trash.

Streets is without question a player and if he comes back healthy could carve out a nice role imo.
Good risks are still risks. They don't all pay out, but some do, and sometimes they pay out great. If you don't take risks you can't win.
Street wouldn't have been my pick there. However when healthy he's a pretty good player...question is can he get back to 100%? We'll find out in 2019.

No risk it, no biscuit.
