What would you have done?

They brought in Attachou which I thought was a smart move at the time, obviously he didn't show enough to stick around.

So who did we miss out on in the draft that was a must have? I was all about Harold Landry and wanted him at #9 but he went before our 2nd round pick and McGlinchey has been a rock for us.

If they get Bosa and Brandon Graham this offseason it will go a long way to improving our defense. And if they get guys like that or similar then their long term plan works out.

I think we need someone other than Graham. He's not a great fit in this scheme and he's on the decline. He's a tad overrated because he's never been exceptionally productive. Last year was an outlier. Most years he hovers around 5 sacks. We at least need a 6-8 sack guy if they're gonna be rotational.

He has consistently put pressure on the QB and his team benefits from that consistency. He is solid and matched with Buck and possibly Bosa can be the makings of a good to great pass rush

Getting better players is more important than not letting players sign who have been mean to us before. Sign Matthews, Thomas, Irvin... idgaf.

Agree

#1 Draft Bosa

#2 Get quality short-term FA ER -

I'd like Mathews. He's 30 years old and has a few good years left. Plus he could mentor Bosa and Street

I'm really hoping Street is the real deal

Everyone keeps saying Street is a pass rusher but averaged 4 sacks per year in college? To me, I think he will be faster, more talented version of Ronald Blair at best.

Thats why we need to double down and draft 2 ERs. I have the same worry about Street, but if we draft 2 ERs we help protect ourself from that. And if Street ends up being a good pass rusher then even better.

no. we need some real grown up db's. no more 1-aa jaworski phartt wiffin' and muffin' and trippin' and wavin'
The thing to remember about Street is he did a lot of the dirty work so Chubb could get after the QB. They were a 2-man wrecking crew at NC St. From what I saw, he's one tough son-of***gun, which is what we need on our DL. The only "pillar" I see is Buckner...he needs someone inside who can TCOB. Mitchell's not bad, really, but he's just not the DT who can control the LOS. Going into next season, I'd say only Buckner & D.J. Jones are safe...the others will have to fight for their jobs. That said, I'd say Street shouldn't have any problems securing a position.

Good point, he did do dirty work for Chubb but Chubb did get a lot attention. I think Street is more of a late bloomer. He was nearly unblockable in the Shrine week and game, which is where I think he cemented his draft status even though he was injured. His strength is freaking off the charts and this is the type of talent you take risks on day 3 of drafts imo
He won't be a feature pass rusher, but he has the potential to develop into a very nice complementary edge rusher ala Ahmad Brooks. Street had this beautiful speed rush at the Shrine practice, but I can't find the gif I made. Dude looked like a mini hulk version of Von Miller lol.

It was obvious coach speak to me. I think they had their eyes on this offseason for edge rushers whether the draft or the free agency class to address this properly.

Now if I'm giving the guys more credit than they actually deserve and they legit don't address the need at edge rusher as expected(i'm talking at least 2 of early draft pick(hopefully Bosa) and a seasoned vet.) then I'll be calling for their heads big time.

I do think they had a plan and we need to let them see it through but no question this offseason is key.

I really think they went into the season believing they were pretty solid at ER and tried to get others to come, but none came and they just said, "it's ahite, we got these studs on the Dline and this crazy dude with mad kicks who likes to talk crap about Patriots

THIS
Yep...I think he can be effective at DE or inside w/Buckner. He's very strong and as noted earlier, tough as they come. It's that toughness we need so badly on our DL...somebody who can get that group fired up. We really haven't had that since Justin Smith retired.
