Could Reed play FS? Seems like a pretty decent tackler with excellent range.

I've seen and heard many comments about Reed just being a slot CB. I don't think he's at all limited to that based on his coverage abilities on the outside. The guy can just flat out cover. Not all non-slot WRs in the NFL are 6'4", 220 lbs. I like that the Niners are looking at him as a CB for both outside if need be and the slot. Here's Lynch's comments about him after the draft:
D.J. Reed is a guy we're extremely excited about. We talk a lot about profiles, and you know, not the profile fit in terms of his height, interesting thing about him, he's about 5-9 and a half, but he's got 32-inch arms, so he kind of makes up for that. While he can play some nickel and free safety, we also think he can hold up at outside corner. He's done that at K-State. Another great punt returner.

I love that we got Reed 2 rounds after Donte Jackson. Teams are gonna regret not taking him. I was looking at corners taken before Reed and it was mind blowing.

And 10" hands. Damn. That gives him the same reach as Denzel Ward. Plus Reed is 5lbs heavier. Will be interesting to see how he does.

That's what makes him the perfect slot. He is shifty like a smaller dude but most of his coverage will be trailing horizontally across the field. This means he will be reaching horizontally quite often rather than trying to deflect vertically. He should be able to deflect a lot of slot type of routes.
Slot CB is no longer a backup spot. It has now become the primary spot offenses pick on. Would be great if we get a lockdown slot CB because it takes away all of the high percentage routes and most of the 3rd down primary options along with hot routes.

Takeaways from the player safety meeting on kickoffs: changes coming, likely eliminating the 2-man wedge, no running start for the kicking team, only 3 players allowed deep.

With changes like this having a good return man becomes more valuable. Reed should be our top kick returner and could benefit from these changes.
I just wonder how it affects inside kicks

Probably not...most kick off seems to just go out the back of the EZ anyhow. Directional punts OOB esp. if a team does have a known weapon like Pettis/Reed.

Man our DB group is looking sexy sweet with big upside and depth. If big sherm comes back 85% to old form were looking mighty good imo.

The new kickoff rule is really interesting. I'm curious to see how it's supposed to look. Heck, I'm curious how Madden's going to implement it without ever seeing it before, haha.

He is going to make it very hard for the coaches to keep him off the football field. Good football player.

Yup love the attitude...he's a "Monday guy" I'm looking at his mockdraftable numbers and his measurables and combine numbers throw him in line with Kendall Fuller (fuller has about an inch and 1/2 on him). I can honestly see him taking over Williams spot come end of the yr.
