We've had a lot of guys look good in preseason only to never play or look terrible in regular season games.
That being said, I feel like this kid is a keeper.
i'm w/you on that.
One game and some practices are a small window.
If he shines thru preseason than YIPPEE!

He hasn't taken anyone's job yet.
And being a 7th round pick is irrelevant. If he outplays Armstead when he's back and healthy then what Shanny said was true.
Taylor could also end up being better than DE's taken in any other round.

If the 7th rounder ends being a steal then it doesn't matter. Every year there are 7th rounders that perform better than 1st rounders. Doesn't mean that the 1st rounder should've been taken in the 7th or not at all, just means the 7th rounder shouldn't have slid so far.
The fact is, that so far in his career Armstead has given us more than Taylor has. If Lynch and Shanahan decide to cut ties with Armstead then be it, I doubt it happens though.

The thing that's not good with AA, is that Lynch picked up that 5th year option, and all AA has to do to continue making millions, is stay hurt. If Taylor continues to look good, and stays healthy, I would trade AA to any team willing to take him off our hands and give us a decent pick back 5th or 6th rd? Otherwise we are in the Ward territory, where we're paying WAY TOO MUCH money for someone when we don't need to. Yes I know we have tons of cap space, but that doesn't mean it is good business to pay guys 3 to 4 times more than they are worth just to do it. A penny saved is a penny earned.
I'm still hoping someone gets hurt in the secondary for a team, and they are willing to take Ward off our hands for a 2020 7th round pick. Saving that 8+ million and rolling it over to next year is a good move for us, and allows us to have even more money to continue to add in FA, or start keeping guys who produce for us (Defo and others.)

Yeah, what might have been with regards to the draft and certain positions of need. I do think Julian is a keeper though. He reminds me a lot of Michael Carter and I think he could be even more effective at 3-tech, but he's definitely a keeper at big end. I think with Day at NT and Julian at big end - when they stunt in the pass rush, they could be formidable in putting heat on the QB from that side of the defensive line. In the Dallas PS game, they had one or two plays in the first half where I thought I saw Cassius at Big End and Julian at NT - pass rushing. I think it was a 3rd and long but they didn't stunt or anything, but Julian was able to push the pocket with a bull rush and Cassius was stalemated - but I think his role was to contain the QB at that time. I have a feeling if Attaochu gets healthy, he'll bookend Cassius at both pass rushing spots with Buckner, Solomon, and Julian rotating inside at the interior D rush positions.

Yep, this ability will be really helpful as ShanaLynch will start to draft towards the tail end of the first rounds. (say 32nd ) Once this team is at that level, drafting at 25th pick or lower - all you have basically is an extra 2nd rounder and no 1st round picks. Being able to spot talent in the 5th through 7th rounds is going to be dang important as the team ages.
