3-28 record will get you fired.

7-17 will get you 4-5 years here.

Well when theres an ovbious bill walsh like turn around coming....
Bill Walsh didn't go backwards from year one to two...

Its a joke. Any jerk off in niner talk can point to walshs slow start as a reason to preach paitience with kyle. I can show 3 million coaches who were 8-24 amd never turned it around.

Hey, now.

Which is why we have to look at more than an overall record. Walsh's defenses were pitiful in 1979 and 1980. The only thing they had going was a half decent offense. What about Walsh in years 1 and 2 instilled confidence going forward? How is it any different from Kyle? You could also argue he had more whiffs than hits at this stage (23 games) in his career.
Year one 2-14, Year two 6-10 is positive trending growth. Year 3 Won the SB.

I don't see that happening with KS.

Man they also fired T.Haley and made G.Williams the HC....this is getting nuts.
Hard Knocks should have been there for the whole season.
These firings are so idiotic, and why the Browns are the Browns.

If Hue Jackson and staff werent worth firing in the offseason, how can they possibly be worth firing now? Makes no sense. Either stand by your guys or dont. They should have never been allowed to start the season if there was a possibility of being fired midway through. Crazy.
Vegas has McVay (rams hc) as highest odds for browns hc next year wow

He has strong ties to Ohio

I think 6-10 is pretty achievable with JG and I'm not looking at year 3. Year 3 for Walsh was a minor miracle considering the state of that defense the year prior. Hitting homeruns to rebuild the secondary with rookies, picking up Hacksaw Reynolds AND Fred Dean? Now technically, we attempt to do a similar type of defensive makeover, but you can't say, yeah, we are going to win the SB. Even the 49ers weren't predicted to be a SB squad at the start of year 3. With that said, what we are seeing isn't totally unprecedented.

The Colts were a 14-2 SB squad in 2009 and 10-6 in 2010. Peyton Manning misses the entire season in 2011 and suddenly, they are a 2-14 team. Depending on the other players you have, the loss of a franchise QB can be that damaging to a team if you don't have a really good backup/push starter as your second QB. Based off what we've seen in 23 games, I'm confident our offense will be humming once we get everyone healthy. I'm playing wait and see with the defense, though I'm not confident at all. Most of the major problems are on that side of the ball. No real development and/or regression of players, bad decision making, bad tackling, no real standout defensive performances in these 23 games (liming the offensively inept Cardinals doesn't count-the Cardinals have put up good offensive numbers compared to what they usually do against other teams when playing us). There are some positives, the just haven't shown up with wins, and don't forget, even with that shining "6-10" record Bill Walsh had in year two, he had an eight game losing streak after starting 3-0. How do you think Niner Talk would've reacted in the middle of the 8 game losing streak? How do you think Niner Talk would've reacted to that 59-14 drubbing at the hands of Dallas? Niner Talk would've crapped all over the '79 draft. Gotta have some perspective.

Definitely stupid. With that said, I'm sure they will get a fine HC next year. Just hope Baker isn't damaged too much in the interim. It's just what you want, a no. 1 overall pick at QB with a ultra aggressive DC as your HC.

Yep, but they have always been unstable as a franchise.
Can't believe I wanted us to get Hue Jackson
Oh Browns - never change.

Why would a coach on a successful team go to a dumpster fire??? Oh, hi Kyle. Didn't see you there....

Not nearly the same. McVay is an actual HC. No one, save for Josh McDaniels, is going to pass up a chance to be a HC. Either way, that rumor is stupid.

Why do you say that?

At the time, most 'zoners preferred Shanahan due to the fact McVay was "even younger?" Most felt McVay was too young to be able to control the players.

I guarantee you that the rams would not be as successful right now if they didn't have wade phillips running the defense. He commands respect on a team. He has 100% authority running the defense. McVay literally doesn't even pay attention when the defense is on the field and just goes and coaches up his offensive players.
