Didn't Shanahan say something along the lines of "if you can go out and get a player as good as Julio you do it"?
Well 2 of them were available this off-season and the best WR who will likely be a first ballot hall of famer just went for.peanuts. I'm tired off hearing about his attitude. The players made it clear they wanted him and they were excited to draft Foster who was a player that no one else was touching because of his issues. I don't buy for a second it was his attitude, this was about money and the York's being cheap.
So either they have some sort of assurance that we will get OBJ or York won't let them make a move that would cost him so much money. Either way we could have a HoF receiver on our roster right now for JG to throw to but instead we we have Bourne, Goodwin and Pettis. Not even a proven #2.
The difference is Julio is a team player and Antonio Brown is a d*ckhead. Shanahan never said he would go out and get a d*ckhead.
Richard Sherman was a ****head too.Hasnt turned out too bad so far
The difference with Sherman was he stopped being a d*ckhead the moment Seattle told him he could talk to other teams. From that point on, he just kept his head down and presented himself as a professional. Don't forget, Sherman has no agent, he is his own agent. You cannot be an effective agent and negotiate deals when you are a complete d*ckhead, that is just a fact.
Whereas Antonio Brown just kept coming out with more and more crap as time went on. Do you remember NYniner85 was initially pro the Antonio Brown idea? I argued with him a couple of times, but as Antonio Brown kept spilling more and more sh*t, Photoshopping himself wearing a 9ers uniform, the non-stop Tweets even he changed his mind.
Ultimately, Lynch as the GM and Shanny as the HC, they had to make a judgement call. There wasn't a single moment Antonio Brown acted in a mature way like an adult in the entire episode, then you just have to say nah it ain't worth it.
