I feel like Vic Fangio is in a better situation with the Broncos in 2019 than he would have been with the 49ers in 2015. If Flacco (or someone else) steps up, the Broncos will be in the fight for the playoffs. Fangio with Miller, Chubb, and company will make some noise.

Got to give Elway credit, bringing Fangio in to coach his team. He screwed the pooch on the last couple of HC's and methinks he got this one right. We'll see how VF's old school approach plays in Denver, but they needed a what you see is what you get coach.

Agreed. I think Fangio immediately makes an already good defense even better and Scangarello will make something at least passable out of the offense. They'll give their division opponents a good fight.

Chances are he didn't. The odds are better hiring the 6th best offensive coordinator then the #1 defensive coordinator.

Do you actually have odds/stats on that, or are you just saying? I tend to agree with you for the most part, but I'm just wondering if you really have stats on something like that. lol

Probably best you are going to get

"Using all that we've learned thus far, the closest thing we would have to a profile for NFL head coaching success — and it's really a stretch — would look like this: an offensive-minded coach in his 40s with between 7–14 years of NFL coaching experience that's looking for his second head coaching job. But again, that's stretching things quite a bit. As far as I can tell, the profile for a successful NFL head coach doesn't really exist. The best coaches come from a variety of different backgrounds and experiences, and from the research I've seen (combined with my own), there's very little in the way of measurable data currently available that can help us predict NFL head coaching success with any more reliability than a coin flip."

In my opinion if you don't hire a good offensive play caller as your head coach, and you have a great OC, you are just going to lose him in a year or two so might as well just get one as your head coach. A creative offensive play caller is the most important position on a staff.

Imagine Kyle HC/OC with Vic as our DC.
So much for that Fangio magic.

It's hard, but Mike Tomlin and Bill Belichek consistently do it.

Belichick is a master of everything when it comes to football and I think Tomlin has had a lot of his faults covered up by tremendous offensive talent on the roster.

That sounds like us at times last year. Who ever would've thought a Fangio led defense would go through this? Especially with Chubb and Miller as the ends
fangio is going to be 2 years in then out unless drew lock becomes a stud and it would be a bidding war for a team looking for a d cord
Fangio should of stuck to just being a lifer at DC

They do, but he's had no trouble getting quality OCs.

No reason for that team to be 0-3 with the talent, but can guys get an opportunity to figure it out? Problem solving is a thing and I think too often in football we don't give coaches that opportunity. A guy like Vic doesn't suddenly forget how to do certain things. Barring a disaster of a season, he should get 2 to 3 years.
It's simple. He has a bad qb.
