Unless Donatell or Bowles takes over.

Donatell didn't light world on fire as DC.

We were speaking to keeping the same scheme. But yeah, game planning and play calling is an art form. It doesn't mean Donatell would be as good as Fangio by any means.

Still have to have SOME offense. That has always been the case. The Jags had a championship defense last year but the offense was . Their window is open now and they will need to draft well, especially with no first round picks.

The team we see now is essentially the team they have to win with.

It's absolutely what they have to win with. Don't have ability to add do the roster financially if they want to keep Amos and Massie.

They'll be fine. They won't fall apart. Fangio would be their biggest loss though.

Will the Bears let Donatell go with Fangio...

They might offer Donatell the vacant DC position if Donatell don't want to follow Vic to Denver.

I think they are good together also, but one of them has to take a back seat, and it's been Donatell so far.

The Bears wouldn't block his right hand guy from leaving. That wouldn't be good for them in the long run. Assuming they can even block him at all depending on his contract status.

No NFL team has been kicking down the door to hire Donatell as DC since he was fired after this happened in the playoffs:

With Fangio he'd be guaranteed to have a defensive coordinator job.

Defense use to win championships. It doesn't anymore.

Now, it just buys you a ticket to the playoffs.

You HAVE to have a decent offense if you are going to ride it to a Superbowl. A good defense can carry a team to the playoffs, but you need to have a team that leans on its defense, you need to have at least have an average offense.

You have to be talented enough in all three phases that one phase can carry you in a game when the other two are not operating at 100%.

Maybe a team can win most of it's games with an elite defense or elite offense... but it won't win them all that way.

Also, Mack as a total no show that game. That defense broke when the team needed them the most.

Mack is worth the money -- but he HAS to show up in big games. He simply did not.

I think it's my fault. I said right as the game started that I can feel a big game from Mack. Whatever I say the opposite seems to come true lol.

With that said, by the end of the game I was getting pretty tired of the broadcast constantly sucking Mack's **** during a game where he did nothing. He had the big tackle at the goal line before the Eagles eventually scored but that's about it.

One of those losses was the 2014 NFC Championship, I'm pretty sure.

Just kidding, missed the AT HOME part.

Gave up two 1st round picks for Khalil Mack when they should've gave up two 1st round picks for a Kicker.

Yeah, we really dodged a bullet not getting that Mack guy either. He's useless.
There was a fan in here somewhere that said they much rather build like the Vikings. Oops.

It just goes to show you, there isn't one perfect formula for building a team esp. mostly through the draft or mostly through free agency.
