16 'starters' were added on offense and defense in 2017 & 2018.

Their average age 25.6 puts them as one of the 10th youngest teams currently. They only have two players making over $9.6M (Robinson & Mack). They currently have $19.3M in cap space before the expected $10M+ increase.

Currently, their collective defense, at a 77.5 average PFF grade, is outstanding (Fangio + Donatell). Their offense, is naturally, behind them but rising each week (Nagy).

Year 2 of the rebuild:
Current record: 7-3 / 1st Place
Projected record: 10-6 / Playoffs / 1st Place Division
Playoff prediction: 1 playoff win

It's hard to compare strategies given our perpetual injuries (had to add more 'starters') esp. with the loss of Jimmy Garoppolo but here is your snapshot in time:

San Francisco 49ers:

33 'starters' were added on offense and defense in 2017 & 2018.

Their average age 25.9 puts them as one of the 10th youngest teams currently. They only have one player making over $10M (Staley). They currently have a projected carryover cap total of $65,419,090 for 2019.

Currently, the collective defense, at a 58.2 average PFF grade, is very poor. Their offense at 71.1 is above average.

Current record: 2-8 / Last Place
Projected record: 3-13 / #1 Draft Pick / Last Place Division
Playoff prediction: None

Totally unfair comparison.
13 players on the Bears were there before 2017......C'mon.
and it's not like those are small pieces they added prior to 2017.
Hicks, Fuller, Travathean, Adrian Amos, Leonard Floyd, 4/5 their OL.

I'm sure if Lynch and Shanny had almost an entirely put together OL, 1/2 their secondary, 1/2 their LB's and a Stud DLineman in place when they arrived they'd be in a much better position too.

They came in with Buckner.....that's it.....Buckner.....Add Travathean, Amos, Floyd, Fuller and their G's to our team and tell me we aren't wayyyyyyy better.

Bears and Rams also drafted decently well and signed some good FA's in 14, 15 and 16 unlike Baalke who Sh-t the bed those years.

Bears got a new GM in 2015, blew up their roster completely and started over from scratch then. At this time a year ago, newspapers in Chicago were saying that Pace was on the hot seat and in danger of losing his job. What a difference a year makes.

The Rams were more or less rebuilding since their current GM was hired in in 2012.

Took Chicago four offseasons to make it to the playoffs.

Took the Rams six offseasons to make it to the playoffs.

Meanwhile you have 49ers fans ready to throw Shanahan and Lynch under the bus after two offseasons.

I'm definitly not ready to broom Kyle at all.

And I know more goes into our draft picks, (among other decisions), then just Lynch choosing the picks.

It looks like Kyle's adjusting the defensive staff some... hopefully the new D-Back coach helps saleh with game planning "assuming" saleh has little experience on game planning due to the positions he's held.

Hoping better decisions are made this offseason by the front office and definitely hoping we are not hit by the injury bug as bad going foreword.
