Do you think they should be better? Mitch sucks & that OL isn't very good (even though they spent cash/picks).

No, I'm pretty sure he's trying to say he was right about their approach because they they are 7-6 despite QB/HC

Not really. Bears had a great season last year and if it wasnt for their QB regressing they would've had another one. 7 and 6 still isnt bad. Youre making the Bears sound like they are the Dolphins.

They had a great year because they had a great defense last season. Unfortunately for them Fangio got the Denver job. Their defense has gone from 3rd to 10th this season. So it isn't all on the QB.

10th in defense is still good. Rodgers would kill to have a defense that good. So it is on the QB when your defense is playing good. Hes had one good game and then hes also had 2 other games where he looked good in the 2nd half. Point is, they are still winning bc of defense. If Mitch would've at least played like last year, they would be a 10 win team right now.

Double fail. Just the opposite.

If it's a double fail in what we both said, then what's the opposite?

I'm actually wondering how they've even won 7 games.

Oh lol. From watching their games this year, they don't seem to have had that tough of a schedule yet they just look kind of blah when I watch. . The D still has played well, but certainly not to last years level. That said, you are right, it is remarkable they are 7-6 and still in the hunt.

Could've had Tom Brady 5 times too.

I'd never know that we are 8-1 by reading these boards sometimes. If Ninertalk existed in '81, would there be people complaining midseason who Walsh could've had instead of James Owens?

Some folks just don't live in reality. It's fairly easy to spot in commentary on the internet.

I think the point he was trying to make is that the drop off from the defense far outweighs how much the offense has regressed, which is why there has been a decline in wins. This year sacks, takeaways, redzone D, rush TDs are all worse than a year ago. They were healthy on that side of the ball last year, this year not so much.
if we get bounced in a 1 and done playoffs, we're basically equal and im being honest.

No you aren't. So in your opinion an 11-3 team and a 7-7 team are equal if the 11-3 team loses in the playoffs game 1, even though the 7-7 team won't even get to the playoffs! So in your view every team in the NFL is equal, except for those who advance past the first game of the playoffs.

And that is without making allowances for the significantly tougher division.

I "think" he means we're a year behind them in the rebuild (depending on how one define the 'start' of a rebuild) so we needed to win our division this year and get bounced the first round of the playoffs like they did last year.

...we're certainly looking far better going forward though. They now need a new QB, OC, offensive scheme and HC. If they had even an average QB, even with the defensive losses in FA/injuries this year, they'd probably be a playoff team at least.

Wow you're bailing on Nagy? That college offense they run is built around the skill set of their quarterback. I think the problem is clearly Trubisky. It appears he was overdrafted.

OK if you say so.

But if they need a new qb, HC, OC and scheme, the competition is over! That's nearly the start of a new rebuild. And if Trubisky is officially a bust (I don't think he is) will Pace survive?
