I would've done it in a sec. They instantly upgraded their team into a SB contender. If Rodgers came to us, we'd be instant SB favorites. Let's not kid ourselves into thinking the Jets made a bad move here….

SB contender lol.. didn't Rodgers take an L to DET last week 18 and miss the playoffs

they a playoff contender, at best

Agreed. Rogers is going to have to fight to be the fifth or sixth best QB in the conference and not even the best in his division.

Football is a team sport. Packers were a different team than the Jets with different talent and different coaching.

On paper, this Jets team has the potential to be a contender in their conference. Time will tell how far they can go.

I don't think he cares about whether he is the best or 3rd best QB be it in the division, conference league or whatever. Nor does he need to. I think he is going to be focused on just winning games.

I agree that he doesn't care, nor should he. I don't think most players think about that the way fans do. My point is that it isn't going to be as easy for him to win with the Jets the way he did in GB for years in a soft division.

That's what I said. He makes the Jets a contender in a loaded QB conference; the team without him would be just an afterthought.

On the other hand, you make him QB of OUR roster and we become instant SB favorites for the next 2-3 years before he hangs it up.

Yep. Rodgers will turn 40 in December and has been on a 5 year injury-free streak. That's bound to end soon but then again 45 year old Tommy Brady..

Rodgers + Saleh is a very interesting combination.

there is only 1 Tom Brady

39 year old Rodgers looks 10-15 years older than 45 y/o Brady
Brady is the Jerry Rice of QB durability; remember when Rice was getting 1k seasons after 40, yeah only 1 dude does that
I recall Favre, Manning, Brees, hitting the wall well before 45, it's cuz they don't do the conditioning, fitness, nutrition, put in the work, like Brady, no one does.
Also ...Brady took BBBBBBBotox to tha face.

Dude is a playoff choker.

Given the way this team was built, we would have been a dynasty alongside the Patriots, and only the lord knows how many epic matchups would have gone down between Brady and Rodgers for ultimate team supremacy.

Our front office has made some questionable moves over this storied franchise's history (choosing Young over Montana, getting rid of Charles Haley, not resigning Deion Sanders), but IMO the Aaron Rodgers botch goes down as the number one failure in franchise history.

Well, not sure I agree. I don't think Aaron would have tolerated being treated the way Nolan treated Smith. And he was able to take his time at the Pack, that option was not open here.

Except, the salary cap. So, no, it would not have been that way.

Intriguingly, the cap hit in 2023 is $1.2m, before ballooning upward to $37.4m in 2024

I am not in on Rodgers at this point, I feel it is telling that GB seems more interested in moving forward with Jordan Love
reminds me of when they were eager to move on from Favre to Rodgers, tbh
I suspect they know what they have, in their own bldg

In my opinion, the statement of 49ers not drafting Rodgers is irrelevant now. There's so many what ifs in the business world of NFL. I think Rodgers is just as frustrated if not more frustrated as us 49ers fans after the choice of Smith. It was a dark time in the 49er history. Part of it was Eddie deBartolo's fault, if he didn't make that mistake, he could still be our owner up to now and we would have probably won multiple SB's already but these are the 'what if's' narratives.

Except that missing on Rodgers was a BIG what if. I get that we missed out on Brady. Even on Mahomes. Lots of teams skipped on those guys. But Rodgers was there for the taking. Home grown talent, and everyone knew that he was more pro ready than Alex Smith. It was an epic fail on Nolan's part. Hell, 50/50 chance on getting the all time greats and we botched.

I think Grant Cohn (of all people) said it best. "Guys, you wouldn't know a franchise quarterback if he won six Super Bowls, called you on the phone and personally asked to play for you."
